Lennart Vedin Posted August 20, 2007 at 10:15 AM Posted August 20, 2007 at 10:15 AM What is automatically log onto a multiplayer session ? Can you explain more what is the problem ? If you mean the Squawkbox 3 local connection to FS, to make other aircraft visible in your FS, it hardly has nothing to do with the router. With possible unusual exeption: There are no required port to open in router firewall to connect and fly online at VATSIM. But to receive voice all the time with no firewall-blocking port UDP 3290 are required to open. There are two general way to open UDP 3290 in a router: 1. To open and forward port UDP 3290 to the IP-address of the PC with SB3. (You must know the IP-address in the PC and therefore best to use static IP). 2. To open port UDP 3290 trigged by TCP 6809 ( 'cause SB3 does continues send messages at TCP 6809, IP-address of the PC with SB3 are not required to know). This method require that your router have the trigg-function. The make the FS-Multiplayer to work (this FS function are only used to make other online visible in your FS), there are some issues often 'caused by antivirus/firewall in computer. The issue is a problem sometime noted in VATSIM forum. After you sure you have been close so you should have seen other aircrafts: Explanation: For FS2004 (i.e. FS9), Squawkbox 3 (SB3) do use local TCP/IP DirectX FS-Multiplayer connection only to make VATSIM aircrafts visible for you in your FS. Other data-tranfer to FS2004 use other technologies, SB3 use FSUIPC Memory mapping for other data-transfer. - Check Direct X version 9c or later. - Try FS in window mode (not in full screen mode), just to ensure you will see antivirus/firewall messages - If router, for SB3 disable UPnP in router (This is not a recommendation for FSInn user). - If router, you may try connect PC direct to internet to exclude router issues. - UPnP in Windows XP services should also be disabled (but it should be default disabled in XP). - Squawkbox 3 connect automatically to FS2004, but may fail. Look FS2004 Multiplayer status and try to connect to Squawkbox 3 by hand from FS, if required. Use PC local IP-address 127.0.0.1 (if you use Squawkbox 3 at same PC as FS ) to connect FS2004 to SB3. - You may try set antivirus some low-secure setting. - Or uninstall antivirus in PC (uninstall is typical the only way to complete disable an antivirus). MAKE SURE you have firewall, a router or XP built in firewall enabled. Note you may need UNINSTALL antivirus. I shouldnt worry a try flight just connect to VATSIM without antivirus, ive fly VATSIM two year without antivirus. / Lennart Vedin /
Christian Aponte 1021808 Posted August 20, 2007 at 06:02 PM Author Posted August 20, 2007 at 06:02 PM No it just says it was unable to open multiplayer session.
Owen Catherwood 903683 Posted August 20, 2007 at 11:07 PM Posted August 20, 2007 at 11:07 PM That sounds like a firewall issue, not router issue. I believe that happens if your firewall does not let it listen on the multiplayer port for connections, so SB3 gives up. Lennart Vedin Posted August 21, 2007 at 08:29 AM Posted August 21, 2007 at 08:29 AM No it just says it was unable to open multiplayer session. What is "it", is it Squawkbox 3 saying this. And what is the message word by word ? It sounds you like Squawkbox 3 can not connect to FS, and you may look my (and others) suggest for FS-Multiplayer connection problem. do you use FS2004 ? / Lennart Vedin /

Daniel Doorgakant Posted August 24, 2007 at 12:22 AM Posted August 24, 2007 at 12:22 AM This sounds like a DirectX issue. Two days ago my DirectX was playing up and when I tried to load squawkbox, it couldnt get past the splash screen where it says Starting Multiplayer Server:.... Im not exactly sure how to fix the issue as all I did was restart the computer.
