Mahmoud Fadli 819693 Posted August 24, 2007 at 01:08 AM Posted August 24, 2007 at 01:08 AM www.academy-vatameatc.com The VATSIM Africa and Middle East Division deputy directors Mahmoud Fadli (VATAME3) and Lee Harman (VATAME2), along with the supervision of Ilan Jonas (VATAME1), have announced a plan to open the VATAME ATC Academy in September of this year. The Academy, based on a comprehensive examination and OTS reservation system designed by Mr. John Jones of Emirates vACC, will train prospective ATC students on behalf of all of the division’s vACCs and sub divisions, which agreed to harmonize all ATC requirements earlier this month. At the moment, the Academy, which is currently being formed by a committee of vACC and Division directors, has completed the list of requirements for OBS/STU1, and will publish a manual for OBS/STU1 students, hopefully, within the coming week. VATAME Deputy Director of the Middle East Mahmoud Fadli has told the press that the “harmonization of theoretical requirements for ATC throughout the entire division will mean that prospective students can come to one place to get all the instruction they need on the very basics of air traffic control, while still having the ability to receive over the shoulder supervision live on the network by one of the Academy’s instructors at their local vACC, thus bringing together the local and global aspects of controlling.†Mahmoud A.
