Anthony Atkielski 985811 Posted August 31, 2007 at 01:26 PM Posted August 31, 2007 at 01:26 PM I've mentioned this elsewhere but I think it's important enough to try to let everyone know about it: SkyVector.com has added IFR charts to their database. Now you can view not only sectionals, TACs, and fly charts for the entire U.S., but also low-level en-route charts. High-level charts are on the way. Since there was no online source for these previously, this is a HUGE boost to people who like to fly IFR. The charts are updated every 8 weeks and are available only on paper, so this represents a m[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ive effort by SkyVector to put them online. This weekend will be IFR heaven for a lot of simmers, I suspect.
Keith Smith Posted August 31, 2007 at 01:52 PM Posted August 31, 2007 at 01:52 PM Anthony, I have been _waiting_ for this day to come. Unreal. Thanks for posting it!
Anthony Atkielski 985811 Posted August 31, 2007 at 02:43 PM Author Posted August 31, 2007 at 02:43 PM I just realized that it came just in time for the ZLA fly-in tonight.
Tim Krajcar Posted August 31, 2007 at 02:56 PM Posted August 31, 2007 at 02:56 PM This is a great addition - but just as a minor note - Eugene Zaporozhets of ZLA had uploaded both low & high altitude en-route charts to AVSIM a while back - so if you want to get them in a format where you can download and study the charts, just search by his last name on AVSIM and you can get 'em there too. Obviously, SkyVector is a great way to use these charts too - just wanted to thank Eugene for his work which, until now, was the only way to get this info online. Anthony Atkielski 985811 Posted August 31, 2007 at 08:00 PM Author Posted August 31, 2007 at 08:00 PM Myairplane.com is very complex to use, has a very small and fixed display area, and never even worked on my machine because I have security set too high. SkyVector will display at any size and is very fast and is much friendlier, and it doesn't require any compromise on system security.
Josh Rosard 879188 Posted September 2, 2007 at 02:42 AM Posted September 2, 2007 at 02:42 AM I actually do prefer how the chart is presented on Skyvector, but myairplane also has high altitude charts. I haven't seen those on Skyvector. Josh Rosard ZDV PPL ASEL
Anthony Atkielski 985811 Posted September 2, 2007 at 03:44 AM Author Posted September 2, 2007 at 03:44 AM SkyVector says they are preparing to put high-altitude charts online now. The low-altitude charts are already there.
