*Big Event* *Experienced Pilots*

  • KMSP Construction Madness Time: 00:00 – 03:00Z
    Runway 30L/12R at KMSP is closed for repair, and it has caused some headaches for ATC. It has also caused some creative thinking and new procedures born from necessity. W

    This event simulates the same challenges that both ATC and pilots are facing in the real world at KMSP: LOC-only approaches (no glideslope), converging approaches, LASHO operations, complex taxi instructions, non-standard STAR navigation and vectors...etc. If you're looking for a pilot challenge, this is it!

    Pilots will *NEED* to install the proper AFCAD files which have runway 35/17 added at KMSP.

    An up-to-date AFACAD cycle is available on the
www.minniecenter.org website. 00Z-03Z or 1900-2200 CDT.

Looks great, Karen.

I'm confused about the times for the pilot training. 2000-2300z and 1900-2200 CST are two different things.

Also, the dates/times are a little confusing for most of the events. For example, the ZDV regional night is shown as Wed 0200z. I agree with listing it as a Wed night event, because for most pilots, that's what it will be, but if the time is shown as zulu, then it might be worth leaving the heading as Wed Sep 26, but changing th etime to Thu 0200z.

Presenting a local date with a zulu time is a sticky wicket. You could give each date and time in both Zulu and at least one US time zone, but keep them consistent: only give a zulu date with a zulu time, and a local date with a local time. For example:

Event starts at:

* We Sep 19 0200Z

which is the same as:

* Tu Sep 18 1900 PDT

Ugly, I know, but less ambiguous.

Well, just so there is no confusion on the KMSP Construction Madness Event:

Friday, September 28th, 1900 CDT

Let me also say that we are expecting just as much departure traffic as arrival traffic. This is not just a "fly-in" event! If, however, you wish to make it into MSP while we have the staffing "guaranteed", you will need to hit the 1900-2200 CDT window. Some popular "quick-hop" routes into KMSP (and vice-a-versa) go to or from these airports:

ORD

MDW

DTW

MEM

DEN

STL

MCI

OMA

LNK

CYWG

Also, one final reminder...**Please take the time to download and install either the ZMP AFCAD update files (found on our website at www.minniecenter.org ) or at least a scenery update that has runway 17/35 installed at KMSP. It is crucial for the event for pilots to have the ability to operate on these runways.**

We will see you in Minnie on Friday!!
