Nate Johns Posted October 16, 2007 at 08:58 PM Posted October 16, 2007 at 08:58 PM Nate, Fair enough...do you get many pilots taxiing to the active at KPHX and taking off into landing traffic without saying a word? In short, there are tremendous differences between the abilities of real world pilots (generally speaking) and the spectrum of pilots that fly on VATSIM. There is a need for non-real world procedures to deal with such situations. Dan, GREAT post. Oh, absolutely, and I agree totally. No dig on you at all. Only saying that there are innumerable sucky pilots in real life too. Some level of mandatory training would improve the quality of pilots on the system. Not saying it will happen for any given reason, but I think the idea has merit. Levi Duroy 981416 Posted October 17, 2007 at 04:05 AM Posted October 17, 2007 at 04:05 AM The problem lies with the number of pilots. We can't do much but press upon them the PRC so they can "self learn."The time and training and such would be way too much for a training academy(foretunately, some VAs offer this to pilots to prevent instances where an undertrained pilot busts through Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] B on VFR).But there are always those who believe they can get away with skimming througha big portion of training docomeents(which can be understood,as the excitement to be on such a realistic server).
