Benjamin Stramm 998381 Posted October 18, 2007 at 06:05 PM Posted October 18, 2007 at 06:05 PM hello, I'm from Germany but I'm flying often over spanish-speaking area. I noticed that there the atc is spoken bbetween spanish people in spanish anyways whether it is IFR or VFR. So I would like to have a little conversation between an ATC and a pilot speaking spanish with english (or german) remarks. I'm still learning spanish so I want to get further into this language. Maybe you can help me. thank you Benjamin
Kyle Ramsey 810181 Posted October 18, 2007 at 10:56 PM Posted October 18, 2007 at 10:56 PM Spain is a great place to fly then. Also consider the parts of South America where Spanish is the primary language (Portuguese in Brazil) and of course our friends in Mexico as well as a strong ATC prescence in Dominaican Republic in the Caribbean (Hi Steve!). I think this is one of the more interesting aspects of VATSIM. Good luck! Kyle Ramsey
Daniel Gustin 940540 Posted October 19, 2007 at 02:14 AM Posted October 19, 2007 at 02:14 AM I would recommend asking the controllers to give you translations. For example, on voice English but give Spanish on text so you can learn. I have done this before except in French when I was in Montreal. I p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed off a whole Departure sequence from Del to CTR speaking only french (except when he told me position and wait - I got a bit messed there). I am sure the controllers would be glad to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist you with it. Daniel Gustin VATEUD3 -Training Director Pilots Come on kids! The more forum posts you have, the better! Joaquin Blanco Posted October 19, 2007 at 10:31 AM Posted October 19, 2007 at 10:31 AM Benjamin If you go to VATSIM Spain Forum http://es.groups.yahoo.com/group/ACCSP/ and join the group you will be able to let them know about your interest in using Spanish during your RT. I am certain that many Controllers would go out of their way to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist you and you may even be able to arrange your flying when specific Controllers are online, etc. You can always PM me if you would like to discuss this further. Regards Best regards Joaquin Blanco

Thomas George 827476 Posted March 25, 2008 at 09:27 AM Posted March 25, 2008 at 09:27 AM Spanish is my minor at university and I too have dabbled with the aviation vocabulary. www.vatspa.net provides a guide to the English <-> Spanish translations of some of the common phrases, but reading their other docomeents is very helpful too.
