Michael Zazula Posted October 21, 2007 at 10:31 PM Posted October 21, 2007 at 10:31 PM The Idea John Clever, the dispatcher of Zulus Air, wiped sweat from his forehead. It was a long day! 8 hours ago, when he took his place in front of the computer and radio unit, he was sure it’s just another boring afternoon. But before he was finished his second coffee, the phone started to ring and the company radio frequency got busy. One captain has informed that he has strong stomach problems and is not able to fly. The Maintenance Department reported that they have discovered a broken door in an aircraft scheduled for another flight. The meteo office issued a warning about possible heavy thunderstorms in Wind End, where 2 Zulus Aircrafts were scheduled to land shortly. But John knew that he’s working for the best VATSIM airline! He reacted quickly: a phone to another captain who was on stand by and 30 minutes later he was boarding the aircraft replacing his ill colleague. Another call and the replacement for broken airplane has been found: Zulus Air mechanics showed their skills by completing an overhaul few hours earlier than expected. John discussed the situation in Wind City on the radio with two concerned captains and has decided that one aircraft, which is needed there for an early flight tomorrow, will wait in the holding until the storm will end and the second one will divert to an airport only 60 miles away. Once again John and his pilots have managed to get all people to their destinations almost on time and happy. What is VARA?
