Tony Kovacs 958372 Posted November 6, 2007 at 07:43 PM Posted November 6, 2007 at 07:43 PM I just wanted to let you all know that a group of us from Seneca College's Aviation Program at Buttonville Campus will be staffing CYKZ Buttonville Ground and Tower positions and flying there live from the airport between 7:00PM and 9:00PM on most Friday evenings to practice local VFR procedures at the airport. We would like to invite anyone else that is available and wants to participate to come check if we're onine and join us. This is an excellent opportunity to experience great ATC done by real world aviation students at a Municipal airport in Toronto's CZYZ FIR. We hope to see you there if you can make it. edit: by VATCAN1 Feb 19, 2008 Changed to Friday Evenings 19:00 - 21:00 EST by request of original poster. Tony Kovacs 958372 Posted February 2, 2008 at 12:56 AM Author Posted February 2, 2008 at 12:56 AM We are an Aviation school for flying but in order to have ATC at our home airport we trained our own controllers. I would also like to point out that we have changed our online time to Friday evenings between 7:00 - 9:00 PM local EST. Chris Coates 1050321 Posted March 1, 2008 at 02:40 AM Posted March 1, 2008 at 02:40 AM Hello Everyone. I'm a brand new member as of today & this is my very first post. I live 15 nm due South of Buttonville airport & started my PPL training there back in 1986. I consider it my home airport & these days I spend time there on weekends watching students in the circuit & listening to the Tower controlers. I don't fly for real to often anymore. Regarding the largest & fastest aircraft that fly in & out of Buttonville, well there is a Falcon 50 based there (I've only seen it fly a few times), and a few Falcon 10's, some Pilatus PC-12's, some Piaggio Avanti's & Piper Cheyenne's & of course many King Air's come & go. Those are the usual hot rods that you see there flying every day & there's about 100 resident GA aircraft. Michael Bonanno 984105 Posted April 21, 2008 at 01:40 AM Posted April 21, 2008 at 01:40 AM Keep in mind - when CYKZ Tower is not online, any CYYZ DEP/APP or CZYZ Controller controls Buttonville. We love to see traffic in and out of the regionals, as it is a twist of the typical CYYZ Traffic Michael Bonanno, VATSIM Supervisor

Jody Turner 1018734 Posted September 12, 2008 at 10:46 PM Posted September 12, 2008 at 10:46 PM Does anyone know if CYKZ is still being staffed on those nights? No it isn't. But as Michael said, whenever CYYZ_DEP or a higher position is staffed, CYKZ is being controlled. So look out for that. EDIT: Checking the CYYZ Roster, I don't believe that the people who were doing this are certified anymore Jody Turner - I1 Toronto FIR - Facility Engineer
