Chris Gazley 1035424 Posted November 14, 2007 at 10:14 AM Posted November 14, 2007 at 10:14 AM Hiya folks, My name is Chris, I'm located in Ottawa, Ontario. I just wanted to pop on the board and say hello to all. I'm looking forward to having some good fun flying with you all. Currently I'm trying to figure out all the extras (software, charts, etc.) that I will need to be an effective VATSIM pilot. In the mean time could those in the Ottawa area, or those with knowledge of the area, advise me on when the local activity is? I'd like to jump in as soon as I can and experience what I have been missing. FYI, look for C-HRIS, that is the reg number/callsign I will be using. TIA for the advice and again I look forward to flying with you all. Later, Chris Gazley
Christopher Arnold 933936 Posted November 14, 2007 at 03:22 PM Posted November 14, 2007 at 03:22 PM Hi Chris, First of all, welcome to Vatsim. You asked about Ottawa, which is in the Montreal FIR. Their website is http://bathursted.ccnb.nb.ca/vatcan/fir/montreal/Home/EN/index1.cfm. They've got all the CYOW charts you might need. They have controllers on fairly often in Montreal FIR, so you should be able to get helped out. Best of luck to you, Chris Arnold Chris Arnold KZMP ARTCC - Minneapolis ATC

Joshua Black Posted November 14, 2007 at 06:38 PM Posted November 14, 2007 at 06:38 PM Hi Chris! Welcome to the VATCAN division. Might I just suggest an FIR? Winnipeg in constantly getting ATC online, yet with no traffic. Feel free to come on down to Winnipeg anytime to do some training, whether it be circuits, just a VFR flight, or whatever. And like Richard said... if you think you are ready to fly in some slightly heavier traffic conditions, head on down to Toronto. Hope you enjoy your stay with us! Cheers!
