Hello, I searched the forum and read much at Vatusa.Net.

Here is my question:

I have had a Vatsim pilot/observer account for years. I am interested in becoming an ATC. I am attempting to follow the "New Members Click Here" (http://vatusa.net/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=PN_Content&file=index&req=visit&artid=52) process at VatUSA.Net, but i cannot see how i obtain a VATUSA account.

Once i get a VATUSA account, i will attempt to take the Basic Controller Exam.

Thanks for any help.

Make sure you have North America/United States selected as your region on VATSIM and then you should have received an email. If this email didn't come within a day, try using the lost p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word feature on the VATUSA website.

If you need any further help, or a more detailed explanation, please feel free to email me. (atm@zmaartcc (dot) org)

Thanks for the reply Alex. I was able to retrieve the information.

However 1 thing that might cause a prob down the road for me is:

1. when i try to change my reigion to north america i get a message that i'm already set to north america. (this is fine)

2. when i try to view the page where i would change / set my Division i get the following message:

Sorry, but we were unable to complete your request.

You have already been [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned to the United States division. Please contact the division director for further information on changing your division.

So basically, i'm unable to configure my division. I hope that won't be a problem.

Thanks again.

Hi John,

A system check shows you are currently a member of the North American Region - United States Division.

If you have not received the automated email containing your VATUSA p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word (check any SPAM isolation boxes you might have configured), go to this URL:

http://www.vatusa.net/html/user.php?op=lostp[Mod - Happy Thoughts]screen&module=NS-LostP[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word

READ and FOLLOW all steps CAREFULLY...your p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word will be emailed to you.

Let me know if you have further problems...g.millsapsvatusa.net

No, what that means is that you are already a member of VATUSA (you probably did this when you originally joined VATSIM). Which subsequently means that you were already e-mailed a p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word, which you probably don't still have on hand. Which thusly means, as Gary provided the link to, all you need to do is follow "Lost P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word" procedure.

Gary: You might be aware of this, but, I would say this is one of the most frequently asked questions around here. Most people actually join North America/USA when they join (or whatever their Division), and don't realize what's going on. Now, I've read the New Members Instructions on VATUSA.NET, but it doesn't really answer what to do in this situation. IE, I think you should revise it something like this:

2) To become a member of the United States Division, you need to set that up on your VATSIM Account. Check your account at VATSIM.NET and ensure that you are registered to the North America Region and then the United States Division. Once you set that, you will be registered with the VATUSA database within 1 day.

-You will be sent an e-mail from VATUSA that contains your VATUSA website p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word and information about the Division. Your user name for the VATUSA website is your VATSIM CID number (while your p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word is sent to your VATSIM e-mail address). You can change this p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word once you log in to the website. This is completely separate from VATSIM itself. The p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word is only necessary for the VATUSA.NET website, and nothing else. To log onto the network, you still use your regular VATSIM CID and P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word.

-If you find that you are already [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned to North America and United States on VATSIM.NET, then you are already a member of VATUSA. You will already have been sent a p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word for the VATUSA website. If you no longer have that e-mail, then you need to follow the Lost P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word procedure for the VATUSA website, so that you can get a new p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word:

it's fine John, no need to apologize. I realize that most pilots that want to transition to becoming a controller don't know this vital information. As new VATSIM members, most pilots don't realize that when they sign up into the USA Division, this actually is the same process as new controllers. So I concur with Steve. Maybe we can re-word the information in the VATUSA New Members link so that it becomes a bit clearer and concise. Steve's alternate description fits perfectly for those signing up for the first time and those wanting information on transferring into VATUSA as well.
