Michael Smith Posted December 8, 2007 at 08:30 PM Posted December 8, 2007 at 08:30 PM What happened to Karen? Hopefully the newbie will be able to live up to her standards... from a source within VATUSA told me that she went AWOL and no one has heard from hear in a long time why this was never brought up and why we went without a ED for so long (she got rid of FNO and got ATC in and then just left) leaves some questions
Brad Littlejohn Posted December 8, 2007 at 09:40 PM Posted December 8, 2007 at 09:40 PM General practice is that when a new Division Director is selected, like with a new ATM, those in the previous positions will resign, and retain those positions temporarily until the Director or ATM selects his new staff, which people apply or re-apply for. Bryan Wollenberg 810243 Posted December 8, 2007 at 10:17 PM Posted December 8, 2007 at 10:17 PM Brad is that the case with Karen? No it's not. There were issues within VATUSA that have been resolved/are being resolved with the new leadership. VATUSA is in good hands. Bryan Wollenberg ZLA! Jeff Turner Posted December 8, 2007 at 11:20 PM Posted December 8, 2007 at 11:20 PM Agreed with Bryan... Karen was Dennis's wife and I imagine when he went AWOL so did she... Jeff "JU" Turner US Army Retired http://www.skyblueradio.com
Gary Millsaps 830104 Posted December 9, 2007 at 02:53 AM Posted December 9, 2007 at 02:53 AM Gentlemen, To put all conjectures to rest, I'll address this issue once... Due to the previous VATUSA5's continued absence for more than 2 months; when I took office, I vacated the position and as most are aware, am now actively seeking applications to fill the position. What's past is in the past and will remain there....we have a bright future ahead of us and once the vacant staff roles are filled, you will see even more marked progress..... Josh Clement 960168 Posted December 19, 2007 at 03:08 PM Posted December 19, 2007 at 03:08 PM Well, we can all hope for a bright future, but whether that will happen is still a mystery. I certainly do not think that the other people in the VATUSA Positions would just resign when a new Director was put in place. If they are doing their jobs then leave them bee- Just my 2 cents Joshua Clement Air Traffic Manager Salt Lake City ARTCC VATSIM/VATUSA Supervisor

Josh Clement 960168 Posted December 20, 2007 at 01:59 AM Posted December 20, 2007 at 01:59 AM Ok Alex, Lets analyze this. 1) VATUSA2- Andrew worked his tail off for this division- Prolly did more then Dennis 2) VATUSA3- I thought Chris did a good job, but- not much you can do when you dont have a leader who is willing to put a training program together. As far as I am concerned the academy should have been left as is and ARTCC Instructors should have been the ones teaching- not an S3. So, for you Alex, these are 2 people who's jobs in my mind should have been safe. Like I stated, there isnt a whole lot you can do without a steady leader. That was the major problem here. This is solely my opinion, and you are entitled to yours also. Lets leave it at that and get back on the topic. Alex Bailey 969331 Posted December 20, 2007 at 02:07 AM Posted December 20, 2007 at 02:07 AM I agree completely, but I think what we needed was a new perspective from a new group of individuals. There is no doubt in my mind that Andrew and Chris did a fine job in those positions. My comment was more with reference to the Events position as the title suggests.
