PTT Key Questions

This sounds like an odd question:

After I release the PTT key in VRC, the TX light remains on for about 1-2 seconds. Is there any way to get rid of the lag?

That is totally normal, and I think that everyone has that. Until they creat an update for VRC that fixes that, you'll have deal with it. Although, it would be nice for it to go off right away so we know we are off.

Is there any way to route an external (like on the headset) PTT key to work on VRC?

Sorry, I'm not too sure of what your asking for that one...

Thanks Joshua,

A lot of real world headsets have push to talk buttons installed right on the headset cord for convinience. I was wondering if there was a way for me to be able to somehow connect that PTT button from my headset to act as a PTT key in VRC or Squawkbox.

If anyone has ideas as to how to tweak the delay that I was talking about, let me know...

I remember there was a topic about this, i didnt try nor read all the details... but here you may start:

What i would try is just "downgrade" an old joystick (usb cable and PTT button only), take Joy2Key (or similar called tool) and map the joystick button to a key press like whatever you want via software.

A similar issue was discussed on the VRC forums a while back. Although the light may remain on for up to 2 seconds after releasing the PTT key, your transmission stops when you release the key. It was also mentioned that the state of the PTT key is polled every 10 milliseconds and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed to the voice library every time it is polled.
