Sam Guest 896624 Posted December 4, 2004 at 02:22 PM Posted December 4, 2004 at 02:22 PM I have read MANY tutorials on how to connect to Vatsim and follow them correctly, i get to the stage of clicking "Connect" on the SB menu and i get the following error message: "The attempt to connect timed out without establishing a connection" I have used vatsim before and i am connecting the exact way that i used to, i dont know what is happening, help would be largley appreciated as i can't wait to get back out in the virtual skies of Vatsim Kind Regards, Sam Guest
Richard Critz Posted December 4, 2004 at 02:30 PM Posted December 4, 2004 at 02:30 PM This sounds like either: a firewall problem on your system a problem with your ISP a general internet problem blocking the route to the server you have chosen I recommend first trying some other servers to rule out the 3rd option. I'm [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming you have an up-to-date list of server IPs that you are using. If not, let me recommend that you check out the Pilot Resource Center, http://www.vatsim.net/prc, for step-by-step instructions to verify your installation and so on. Sam Guest 896624 Posted December 4, 2004 at 04:08 PM Author Posted December 4, 2004 at 04:08 PM Hmm perhaps, maybe it is because i am connected to the internet via ad-hoc wireless network (54mbps) the main connection to the internet is on another pc using a 1MBPS internet connection The only firewall it could be is the default windows one (Im using SP2) in which is disabled. I am gutted as i love flying on vatsim.
Paul Williams 907674 Posted December 4, 2004 at 04:11 PM Posted December 4, 2004 at 04:11 PM is your server list up to date? I'm not sure of the procedure off by heart, but have a look around Paul Williams (907674) - VATUK Controller & Pilot Essex OBS to TWR Mentor | Essex Crib Sheet Author & Maintainer Essex Radar Trainee | VATPAC Validated
Dave Weese 817228 Posted December 4, 2004 at 04:42 PM Posted December 4, 2004 at 04:42 PM To update your server list, start Servinfo and click the IP button just below the Vatsim button and save that file to your SB folder. Make sure you load the Vatsim network data by clicking the Vatsim button first.
