Please drop them a line at http://www.zabartcc.org/forum/ . Nate Johns Posted January 13, 2008 at 05:36 PM Posted January 13, 2008 at 05:36 PM Bill and Greg, I apologize if you haven't been able to get in contact with any ZAB Staff. I have no record of any e-mails from you in my G-mail archives. Bill Miller 828275 Posted January 13, 2008 at 07:20 PM Author Posted January 13, 2008 at 07:20 PM Nate, It is not a mater of your Gmail. It is an issue of responding to transfer requests entered in the VATSIM system. Also it appears that ABQ-ARTC not that active at the present time. That is to bad as it was once a vibrant ARTC with many pilots and events. If there are technical issues regarding staff emails, that should be resolved ASAP. It is the duty of persons accepting staff positions to keep their contact information updated with VATSIM so communication is fluid. If they (staff) cannot perform their duties they should resign. Anthony Atkielski 985811 Posted January 13, 2008 at 08:04 PM Posted January 13, 2008 at 08:04 PM It would be nice if KPHX were staffed on a regular basis. Right now there are a couple of large Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] B airports on the West Coast that are staffed often enough to be interesting, including KLAX, KLAS, KSFO, KSAN, and KSEA. KPHX is a major airport and would be a cool addition to that group, significantly multiplying the number of interesting routes that could be regularly covered by ATC. Hi Bill, Thank you for your interest in the VATUSA Albuquerque ARTCC. I haven't seen any notification of a transfer request in to ZAB and will investigate that immediately. Looking at the VATUSA transfer site presently, I do see you are pending in that regard, and I will gladly accept your transfer forthwith, presuming you still wish to be part of an ARTCC where you apparently believe that the staff aren't performing their duties. Please let me know if you still wish to transfer here. If you would like to discuss the fundamentals of VATUSA ZAB in further detail, I will be glad to entertain your concerns and inquiries in private e-mail correspondence. Hi Anthony, It's great that there is interest in our airports, especially PHX. We agree that enhancing our staffing totals to bring an increasingly regular set of traffic to ZAB would be beneficial for both pilot and controller alike. I believe that, thanks to the new set of controller ratings standards adopted by VATUSA at the first of the year, you will begin to see an increased presence of ATC within ZAB airspace over time. I, personally, have been working very hard to bring some necessary information for our controllers to light, and training will begin in earnest when we can flesh out a proper training department. Keep us in mind, and don't avoid our airspace just because there's no ATC. We look forward to seeing you on. ~Nate Nate Johns "All things are difficult before they are easy." - Dr. Thomas Fuller, Gnomologia, 1732
Scott Mulhollan 929446 Posted January 15, 2008 at 04:32 AM Posted January 15, 2008 at 04:32 AM For anyone who says that Nate (ZAB staff) is dysfunctional, not active etc. you are wrong. Go ahead, take a look at the SOP's and the video maps and you will discover that ZAB has THE most comprehensive and realistic SOP's in all of VATSIM, bar none. Even thought that staffing is not as consistent as it could be, that does not mean that the ZAB is staff isn't doing its job. All it means is that people have real lives too, and sometimes don't get around to control. ZAB will fit your definition of "active" soon, don't worry. VATUSA and ZAB are way too good to let an ARTCC go down the tubes.
