Hi Ross,

There is a pretty hefty revamp of German CTR IDs on the way (announcment in the Europe forum) which will lead to some of their busiest sectors not showing up on servinfo or VATspy. Maybe you should start asking that question sometime in the near future?

Cheers!

Paul.

Yeah, I'm aware of the upcoming changes in Germany. As it is right now, I won't have any time for a major update to SI or VATSpy until after the first of the year. Perhaps Alex or another member will volunteer to do another update.

Hi all,

in the last update from Servinfo, the airport LKPD from Pardubice, Czech Republic do not are included.

You can put manually the following line in servinfo.dat:

LKPD/Pardubice/+050.013056+015.738333//LKAA/

or download my servinfo.dat

Is it possible for you guys behind Servinfo to remove ENTR_CTR as it now is a disused sector, and part of ENBD_CTR?

Everytime someone connect as ENBD_S_CTR (Which is the old ENTR sector) it shows them as just ENBD_CTR covering the ENBD_CTR sector, and not the ENTR_CTR.

I think the best way to do this is to remove ENTR_CTR and extend the ENBD_CTR to cover the old ENTR_CTR aswell.

Also there are some errors in regards to Airport Ownership. According to Servinfo, ENBO and some other airports in Northern Norway belong to ENOB_CTR which is not correct, they belong to ENBD_CTR as ENOB is Bodo Oceanic.

In regards to Official updates, I think it should either be made some sort of Database where users can add their own updates, or that you do regular updates like one every 6 months or every quarter of the year.

A full servinfo.dat relating to Norway or some place up there was sent during the original process, but the person who sent it, didn't note what exactly was related to the update. Since I don't have the ability to read minds, and since he never responded again, nothing was updated.

I have downloaded the latest .dat files for Servinfo. It includes the latest Norway FIR changes, but the latest German stations are not updated eg Lagen Radar ( EDGG_S_CTR on 127.50 ). I found an update for Gernamy on their VACC site, but it doesn't have the Norway updates ! So one files just overwrites the other. Anyone know where can I find a definitive dat file ?

Thanks

You'll just have to combine them yourself.

Had any of these places just listened and added their updates both correctly, and when this thing was happening, as was recommended...instead of 5mins after VATSIM published its one, noone would have these issues right now

Is it not time a second VATSIM ServInfo update was released? Its been 2 years since the last one was released, and it was said then that another release would be reviewed after a year, and clearly a lot of updates have been made since then to airports, airspace, as well as ATC positions. We're getting back to the stage we were at 2 years ago when everyone was releasing loads of little updates, so would it not be better to combine all the updates again into a 2nd official VATSIM release?

Just to be clear...Servinfo is NOT VATSIM software and not supported by VATSIM. The original developer stopped work on it and various volunteers have chosen to update the software. One of them asked VATSIM if we would publish his update if he did all of the work getting the necessary data and files compiled (which he did), so we published the data and publicized it in our forums. If someone else is interested in taking on an update project like that, I would encourage them to contat the BoG. We are happy to support a serious effort with hosting space and publicity, but the update would still be that person's work, not VATSIM's...

Thanks, Dave. I believe it's the one that is publishing (and maybe maintaining) the updates which the users were trying to communicate with. This was my intentions.

Can you give us his name (if he still is) and I'll try to address the question to him specifically?

Thanks.

Hello Larry, that was me. Ross Carlson did help out a great deal in regards to planning the process and making announcements and such, during his time as VATGOV5, too.

Thanks for pointing out that they were perhaps trying to communicate with me - I didn't get the same impression.

Although since the last update, a few members came to me asking if another one would be made, the closest that was done to it, was discussing some items with Ross, in regards to the giant confusion(And lack of sence), that some members contributed during the last update. If people are looking to me to do it, I'd consider it, but there'd need to be some serious discussion as how to proceed this time. I've simply no interest to deal with some of the same ridiculous bs again.

If on the other hand someone else wants to do it, I've no problem with that - I'm by no means some "official SI dude". The author of SI gave me permission to do the updates of this kind, as long as it was understood by everyone doing them and using them, that it was by no means ServInfo-official, rather just one done by VATSIM, for VATSIM.

Controllers have feelings too...

Alex,

I suggested for vateud for a while ago to make a European ServInfo update (since vatsim wasent going to), and I could make it for them. I got zero feedback. I have good experience from editing the servinfo files and if you want, I can help you with a global vatsim update.

Andrew,

In the Norwegian update folder there is a file named "manually input of data" which describes how you can include the norwegian part to servinfo without overwriting updates you already have.

Hello Larry, that was me. Ross Carlson did help out a great deal in regards to planning the process and making announcements and such, during his time as VATGOV5, too.

I didn’t think it was Ross. He’s usually very responsive, but I didn’t get any response to my other message in this thread.

Thanks for pointing out that they were perhaps trying to communicate with me - I didn't get the same impression.

I would think it was implied to mean whoever was doing it in behave of VATSIM. That was what I meant. They probably also understand that VATSIM doesn’t make pilot clients such as Squawkbox or FSInn. If support stopped they would talk to VATSIM hoping to get a message to whoever is doing it on VATSIM’s behalf. It they were speaking to VATSIM about FSInn I would take it as a cue for me to response since I am the support representative for that pilot client.

Although since the last update, a few members came to me asking if another one would be made, the closest that was done to it, was discussing some items with Ross, in regards to the giant confusion(And lack of sence), that some members contributed during the last update. It might have been wordings like what’s highlighted that gives the impressing that we can talk to VATSIM about the status.

By the way, can you give me the name or contact information for the SI author? Since you appear to be bowing out, I’d gladly work on the project for VATSIM.

The author is Michael Frantzesakis. His email is [email protected] (You can find it on "About ServInfo" button under SI help menu). Be advised, that it took me several attempts before I got a reply. If you don't get one, I don't think he'd have anything against either you or VATSIM doing it, or anyone else for that matter, the same way I did, since effectively they are the same method, that doesn't affect the original client in any way.

Since it was included in the discussion with Ross mentioned above, it's only fair that this is mentioned as well. VAT-Spy uses the same data and similar formatting, as SI. Therefore this would be an update for VAT-Spy users too, so you may want to drop Ross a word, though I don't think he'd have anything against someone providing him with a bunch of new data

One last item, is the number of airports that SI can hold. Since VATRUS and VATOCE(Specifically), added enormous amount of airports in the last update, there's only room for a few more, and no more than that. However VAT-Spy doesn't have this restriction, and you can add all you like.

I'll email you a copy of the latest servinfo.dat and fir.dat files that I have, which contain a few considerable cleanups since the last update.

All I can say is...Good luck!

Controllers have feelings too...
