Michael Degroat 1012187 Posted February 1, 2008 at 02:16 PM Posted February 1, 2008 at 02:16 PM Hello... Some of you may have noticed my post in the VRC Help forum... I can't seem to get it working right on my computer. Anyway... I'm wanting to start my ATC Training (again, tried a while back, had computer issues ) I noticed that on a lot of the ARTCC's websites, they talk about training with VRC. Question is, are there any that will train using one of the other ATC clients, if necessary? Thanks for your time, Michael (\__/) (='.'=) Michael DeGroat (")_(") AAL914 BUNNY
Alex Bailey 969331 Posted February 1, 2008 at 07:05 PM Posted February 1, 2008 at 07:05 PM Michael, all ARTCCs *should* train you on whatever client you choose, but VRC (in my opinion) is the most popular and the easiest to use at this current point in time. Michael Degroat 1012187 Posted February 1, 2008 at 07:23 PM Author Posted February 1, 2008 at 07:23 PM Hey, I fully agree with that (being the easiest)... but it's not working on my computer at the moment. I'm hoping I'll figure it out. (\__/) (='.'=) Michael DeGroat (")_(") AAL914 BUNNY
Alex Bailey 969331 Posted February 1, 2008 at 07:28 PM Posted February 1, 2008 at 07:28 PM There's nothing stopping you from using ASRC for the time being and switching to VRC if you can get it running To be honest, if you can use the ASRC tutorial to understand most of the functions of the program, you won't have a problem in any ARTCC. As long as you can learn the basics yourself, such as amending flight strips and setting communications, etc... The ARTCC may see it as an inconvenience, but if you meet them halfway as I have suggested, it shouldn't be a problem. To address your problem, I was never able to find a fix to the Vista/Intel problem. I stopped looking for a solution because my laptop is Vista/GeForce and I don't even have that desktop anymore so it doesn't affect me. I'll keep a look out for possible solutions and let you know if I find one, but your best bet is to start training on another program and keep looking for a fix. Don't let it delay your training just in case nothing comes out to fix the problem. Alex Bailey ZMA I-
Gary Millsaps 830104 Posted February 1, 2008 at 10:00 PM Posted February 1, 2008 at 10:00 PM Hi Michael, Your VATSIM records indicate you are a member of the VATSIM Canada Region (VATCAN). I recommend you contact any of the ATC unit managers and/or their training staffs to ascertain their ability/willingness to provide training via the ASRC client.
