Anthony ImBoden Posted February 3, 2008 at 03:52 AM Posted February 3, 2008 at 03:52 AM Not sure how to go about correcting this, but my home airport, Oshawa CYOO, is listed in the CZEG FIR. It should be under CZYZ FIR. Proof can be found by selecting the following under the route section (i'll try my best to format it the way the drop downs are): Standard search Flying: From Arriving At... Region: North America Region: North America Country: Canada Country: Canada Airport: CYOO Oshawa Airport: CYHM Hamilton After selecting the above, click on the SHOW for the only route that is displayed. In the chart, for CYOO, FIR is listed as CZEG. Anthony ImBoden (CDN008) Vice President of Events & Public Relations Canadian Airlines Virtual Fly the Goose. Michal Rok Posted February 3, 2008 at 06:44 AM Posted February 3, 2008 at 06:44 AM Hi, The airports are listed by how they geographically fall into ATC sectors. If the ATC sector boundaries are inaccurate, the airports might get [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned wrong. I have recently found a good real life source for ATC sector boundaries, but I have to either decode a 130MB file manually or buy a $250 book Michal vroute.net founder
Anthony ImBoden Posted February 3, 2008 at 11:19 PM Author Posted February 3, 2008 at 11:19 PM Are the FIRs not able to send the appropriate ATC sector boundaries? Or possibly the entire Division (in this case, VATCAN)? Anthony ImBoden (CDN008) Vice President of Events & Public Relations Canadian Airlines Virtual Fly the Goose. Michal Rok Posted February 4, 2008 at 06:01 AM Posted February 4, 2008 at 06:01 AM There are approx. 700 FIR-type sectors in the world. If I started changing them manually, I would be buried in work for the next 5 years and would never keep up with the world. Keep in mind that it is frequently not enough that one country adjusts their sector placement, usually their neighbours must adjust accordingly. So I'd rather spend a few weeks on working smart and get the problem solved once and forever... Or maybe someone has access to ARINC 424 docomeentation? Mark Richards Posted February 4, 2008 at 10:39 PM Posted February 4, 2008 at 10:39 PM Michal Will this issue be resolved for you in the suggested improvement you mentioned before Christmas in http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=26223 Mark Mark Richards (811451) Auckland, New Zealand
Michal Rok Posted February 4, 2008 at 11:06 PM Posted February 4, 2008 at 11:06 PM Not really. Having a good definition of the airspace (see above) and having a smart system for finding out which definition to pick (see the link you've mentioned) are two separate topics.
