Marty Barnes 919730 Posted April 18, 2005 at 08:19 PM Posted April 18, 2005 at 08:19 PM After tuning my radio and making positive voice contact with a controller, there are times that the frequency seems to "de-tune" and I loose voice receiving. I am made aware of this when the controller texts me with instructions, and I reply to them on voice. The voice connection then seems to come back and the controller indicates he tryed to contact me on voice twice and then used text. As a result, I now find myself pychopathically hitting the voice TX button every now and then to make sure my voice connection is still live. I use a SB Creative Audiogy sound card on an XP Pro, ASUS motherboard, AMD 3200+ Athlon processor. Any one else have this voice "de-tune" type issue ? Gareth Williams 840232 Posted April 18, 2005 at 08:50 PM Posted April 18, 2005 at 08:50 PM Hi Marty, this is a router issue. Basically your router opens a UDP pathway dynamically to allow the voice packets in and out; if the connection is idle for a certain amount of time (some routers have this as a configurable option) then the pathway is closed and the inbound voice packets are dropped until such time that you make an outbound transmission, at which time the time-out counter is reset and the pathway opened once more.
