I was on a conversation earlier with a VATCAN Winnipeg controller, and telling me that he didn't took an SOP exam nor any test when applying to be an Air traffic controller in Winnipeg? Someone from Canada reply to this post? Cause that was amazing. All laid black? whoa...

Yes, in Winnipeg, since it isn't a "major" airport, we aren't as strict with training, but we are starting to consider modules like Toronto has, just so we know 100% that we know that the student is ready. But they learn the same materials as all the other FIR's do, just in a "simpler" way.

Winnipeg has just launched a new training scheme and syllabus that is to provide currency between us and other FIR's. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email matt [at] czwgfir.org and I can p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] it to the FIR Chief Instructor
