Gotta love the cloud shadows

They've been in xplane for the longest time, but because I used to run with reduced cloud sizes/numbers, I didn't get to appreciate them as much. With the newfound optimizations, I'm able to run with full 1.0/1.0 clouds. The screenshots (1920x1080) exceed the reasonable bounds for posting in this forum, but non-modem users may be interested in this thread: http://www.laartcc.org/zla/viewtopic.php?t=9423

G'day Keith.

Depending on the flight and location, i keep my clouds at 1.0 most oif the time. .5 for heavy traffic and scenery. Cheers for that tip. Yes the shadows are impressive, much like the fog that fills the valleys in distance scenery shots ...very realistic.

Have a look at this if you get a chance. I am curious as to how the radar function works. Only residents in the United states can get the radar.

Handy tool for me, i use it a lot for quick weather updates on the fly. Seems to match up with Vatsim weather really well.

Neat non sim related real time weather.

Steve,

It would appear that tool displays METAR information - the same information that X-Plane and VATSIM use. However, it has the additional function of getting whatever the closest radar image is, from the National Weather Service.

Go here:

and you can navigate US weather radar's to your heart's content.

Hey Wade.

What i like about it is how very little resources it uses. I have it my LAN ....733mhz pentium 3 needs all the help it can get at the moment. LOL

THe radar looked good for on the fly, saves having a browser open.

Thanks for the link, i like weather stuff(-:
