The event yesterday at VATDRC was great. And I only made the tail-end of it! We had upwards of 30 movements during the period. FZIC was the main focus airport, utilizing one-runway operations. Holds were issued a few times due to multiple arrivals and multiple aircraft in the area flying VFR, within miles of FZIC. Aircraft departed runway 13, and arrived runway 31. Due to this, VOR Approaches were used for runway 31, instead of ILS for 13. The airport only has one exit taxiway for the active, and it's at the end of runway 31, therefore aircraft could not taxi until arriving traffic parked at their gate. All of these factors, plus a stiff crosswind, added to the action and excitement that took place yesterday at VATDRC. Many thanks to all of the VATDRC staff, especially Tony Kovacs for organizing this event. ATC was fantastic, being provided by Peter Begley, Tom Mathieu, Marco Balzarotti, Tony Kovacs, and newcomer Kyle Youmans who did a good deal on FZAA_TWR. Márc Guetre from vNATO provided ATC at Kananga FZUA. Fantastic work was done at FZIC, and coordination between controllers was superb. Tony and Marco worked wonders at FZIC, using VOR/DME-style navigation that is rarely seen nowadays, except in Africa and other third-world areas. I myself flew in the area a few times and loved every bit of it. I was put into one of my first time-limited holds at DME markers that day.

An overrall great experience that I enjoyed to the fullest maximum limit of greatness.

Thanks for the feedback. It was a very busy day in the sky's at Enroute control. All pilots were exceptional and flew their airplanes very professionally. I did not have a single problem with any pilot. So all the credit goes to the pilots who made the show and flew their hearts out and to Tony and Marco who accepted every handoff I threw at them coming into FZIC from all directions!!!

To VATDRC and the pilots who flew in, it was an awesome experience!

Best Regards,

Thank you everyone for your encouraging words. I though that the event wasn't too bad aswell. We had a total of 25 movements at FZIC and a total of 47 in the entire FZZA FIR. This is a one day record for both and an enormous improvement from the 25-30 flights a month only 18 months ago.

We intend to continue to serve and entertain the VATSIM community with professional, organized and expeditious Air Traffic Control. Central Africa is a heaven for flying and controlling.
