Hi all, since terminal 5 will be opening at the end of this month may I ask after the terminal is opened in real life, will BA flights in Vatsim be directed to pull up at terminal 5?

Also will there be change in the taxiway system?

I am using Aerosoft Heathrow 1.1, could someone please share their thoughts

cheers!

Yeah considering a lot of BA operations will be moving to T5 BAvirtual will be rescheduling (could take a few months to retreive all the new data though) but if you pull up at T5 on VATSIM it obviously won't be a problem as it isn't a neccesity for Pilots to load up at the correct Terminals based on their Airline.

In regards to Airport Scenery, yes all the major scenery will get an AFCAD update, which is basically a file entailing the positions of the taxiways, gates and runways. Possibly also there will be some remodelling and texturing from Aerosoft for the T5 update.

The big problem will be that the majority of VATSIM pilots will not have scenery which shows terminal 5. With the current taxiway layout many pilots have trouble finding the existing holding points for runway 27R let alone anything else new, so although I'd prefer to use the most up to date procedures many of the pilots won't. So if you definitely want terminal 5 I'd suggest you ask for it when you report runway vacated.

FYI BA at T5, a number of BA's flights will operate out of T3 in order to co-locate with their One World partners. The destinations that will be served out of T3 are: Bangkok, Singapore (stop over to Sydney), Helsinki, Lisbon, Nice, Madrid, Barcelona, Algiers. This is over 160 flights per week so it's a bit of a myth that all BA flights will go to T5. Incidentally, with SIN/SYD included it means that once delivered there will be BA A380s at T3 since that is one of their intended A380 routes.

I found a quick solution for the Pilots who don't want to be left out of the T5 Club

There is freeware scenery for Terminal 5 available on Avsim.net

It may not be realistic but it's better than taxing to Ramp Ga Sewage.

Is that the one called heathrow2008.zip , which appears to have been uploaded in 2004? Given how old it is, does it actually have everything in the right place? (It's only for FS2004 by the way)

Talking of everything in the right place, on Thursday the CAA published the ground charts including the stand numbering for the bits of T5 that are now complete (i.e. T5 A and T5 B). There is also a special new ground movement chart for the A380 since it isn't allowed to wander around just anywhere due to obstructions - like our DHL building on taxiway S! Usual AIS website for the charts.

It's one of the files. I have used it but the textures are a bit of a let down as it uses default scenery and the gr[Mod - Happy Thoughts] is a solid colour instead of blended. apart from the textures it seems to be accurate enough. There is FRF Studio Heathrow as an alternative. egll.zip (FS9 Only)

As you pointed out Ruth Heathrow2008.zip it is FS9 only.

Not sure if there is freeware scenery for FSX as I don't use it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

This has just been posted in the UK forum from Nigel and Adam Spink who are real world controllers at LACC and EGLL respectively.

Only moves which are set in stone at the moment are:

27th March, BA T1 Airbus flights and longhaul, BA T3 longhual and BA T4 shorthual move to T5.

20th April, BA T4 longhual move to T5.

All the rest are up for grabs.
