Zeeshaan Shahid 963382 Posted March 9, 2008 at 04:58 AM Posted March 9, 2008 at 04:58 AM The Vancouver FIR have come together with Los Angeles ARTCC in a joint event on March 23rd, 2008 from 2000z - 0000z (12-4pm Local) In this event, ZLA will send a couple hundred birds out from LAX to fly to Vancouver, then ZVR will send another hundred to LAX midway through the event. All pilots are welcome, please commence your flight whenever you like, however the high traffic will be in ZLA from 2000z - 2100z, and ZVR from 2130z - 0000z. You don't want to miss this event! ATC all the way, from IFR clearance, to flight plan closure. Depending on you pilots, this will be the busiest Western North American event since Calscream! Seattle and Oakland are also going to provide some center controllers. See ya on the scopes! http://www.emiratesva.org/ is hiring!
Alan Taylor 825557 Posted March 25, 2008 at 12:30 AM Posted March 25, 2008 at 12:30 AM This event was much better than anticipated (Easter Sunday) with around 160 aircraft movements beginning at noon Pacific and not wrapping up until almost 18:00 PDT. We had a few voice problems at the beginning of the event and I apologize to any pilots negatively affected by this, sometimes we just have to play the cards we're dealt. Despite this, the event went very well...the pilots were great, most taking the time to file proper flight plans or noting in their remarks if they couldn't, ATC coverage was good with everything from ground to centre covered, even two towers for the entire event! CZVR would like to thank our co-sponsors ZLA and special thanks to our southern neighbors ZSE and ZOA for their excellent enroute service. Of course I would like to thank all of pilots who participated, without them the event would have been nothing.
