Charles Wilson 819314 Posted March 14, 2008 at 06:18 AM Posted March 14, 2008 at 06:18 AM I know this is a common thread topic. Ive searched for solutions on this forum and the VRC forum and nothing works for me. Ive tried swithing ports to 80, I tried opening port 23456 on my router under TCP and UDP. Ive searched under 127.0.0.1, under my computers IP, my router's IP, the other IPs on the network, I turned off WinXP's firewall, I verified that FS9 and VRC have access through the firewall. Ive tried to join the session before and after loading a "flight". I attempt to join by first connecting to VRC, I load FS9, then I select "start MP session", I wait for the success message, I then go to FS9's multiplayer page, type in 127.0.0.1(or one of the other addresses Ive tried in desperation) and click search with no results. My player name defaults to an old game name(i dont remember why), but im not sure if that matters. I have switched the name to my VRC call sign sometimes...still no results. I need help...bad. Is there some other router tricks? Ive already tried deselecting UPnP, IP stuff...something. Thanks in advance edit: I have found that my game locks up when exiting the game from the multi-player screen or when trying to disconnect/cancel a MP session I start myself from the MP screen. Does the virtual tower capabilty come with core installation of VRC even if I had neglected to install the sounds, models and other stuff? Though I do have sounds and downloaded the vip models seperatly.

Though I do have sounds and downloaded the vip models seperatly. Did you let it install the "multiplayer aircraft model data"? Even if you didn't, it should still create the MP session, but I honestly never tested that scenario. Trevor Bagnell 1045553 Posted March 19, 2008 at 09:04 PM Posted March 19, 2008 at 09:04 PM I was able to make this work. I went to my router and did the following: I wrote down the IP address [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned to my computer (192.168.XX.XX) by the router. I used persistent port forwarding for port 80 and port 23456 to forward to the IP address given above. Now that may sound like what you tried, but make sure that both TCP and UDP protocols are being used. I had to set up a total of 4 forwarding rules 2 for the TCP ports and 2 for the UDP ports. Some routers have the option of doing both at once. Then with both VRC and FS9 running, I started the MP session in VRC. I then went to FS Multiplayer and searched under IP 192.168.XX.XX. BAM! there it was, it came up as Squawkbox for the session name. No more getting in S$!t for having multiple sessions running on vatsim like the other day! Trevor Bagnell 1045553 Posted March 20, 2008 at 08:52 PM Posted March 20, 2008 at 08:52 PM I was able to make this work. Well I spoke too soon. Although the multiplayer session was working, and FS could join the VRC (Squawkbox) session, The primary frequency was locked out. I could hear transmit on frequencies other than the primary frequency. On the primary no one could hear me, and I couldnt hear them.... more investigation I guess. Trevor Bagnell 1045553 Posted March 20, 2008 at 10:04 PM Posted March 20, 2008 at 10:04 PM Primary frequency issues resolved. When my FS9 loads up it automatically starts FSFDT and the AI bridge. I killed those two applications as they would not be needed with the virtual tower view. Primary frequency works like a charm now. Now all I need is some traffic at the local airport. Charles Wilson 819314 Posted March 23, 2008 at 10:43 PM Author Posted March 23, 2008 at 10:43 PM I did 4 settings in my firewall page. port 80 for TCP and UDp and 23456 TCP and UDP...no good. Stil lno session. Now Im looking and using an application trigger. The public trigger is set for the TCP and UDP for 23456(actually a range of ports for which 23456 sits), but should I also use 23456 for the application trigger? Or use the current application trigger which is a different port all together...its an old MSN gaming zone trigger set up that came with teh router.
