Welcome to VATSIM Joel. Sorry you're having difficulties. A couple of things you can do:

1. Please stick to one thread regarding the same subject

2. Read the Pilot Resource Center docomeents foung at http://www.vatsim.net/prc The PRC has a ton of great information for pilots

3. Please be a specific as you can about your problem. "Can't get online" doesn't give much to work off of

4. Also, please include your operating system and flight sim version because some solutions are specific to specific OS's and FS's

Once you get all that the people here are GREAT at helping new pilots, and once you get on I'm sure you'll feel the trouble was worth it

Joel,

we need to know what software you are using. What type of errors the software is giving you. Also are you using a router? Once we some specifics there are people here that can get you up and going.

sorry, pretty new to forums. anyway, I use flight simulator 2004 connect using 56k, which is probably my biggest problem. I have downloaded and installed roger wilco. it works although don't know how it relates to were i am at in the game.all so, have finn, i believe you call it. That seems to work but don't know how to tell i am in a network.Read all info i could find and still don't know...Starting to feel like i need a online guide for dummies. I never had this much trouble with other games, wondering what I am doing wrong. Thanks for your replies. Hope I was more discriptive.

Best thing to do is go to www.vatsim.net/prc and read through the guides there, that is your online guide to flying for dummies. You do not need Roger Wilco you need AVC (advanced voice client), or you can get Squawkbox 3 www.squawkbox.ca and you will have built in voice.

Joel, this is the first time I’m seeing your message about having problems. You already mentioned that you have FS2004, AVC, and FSInn. You have what you need to connect. There’s a good chance you might have been connected and didn’t know it.

Someone mentioned that you should check out the prc. Check out that part to develop a foundation for a point of reference for your questions and let us know where you get lost.

Also, take a look at: http://www.mcdu.com/media/swf/tuto1vatsim.htm . This is brief tutorial showing you where to put your useID and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word and click to be connected.

You might consider getting ServInfo ( http://www.avsim.com/hangar/utils/servinfo/downloads.htm ). You can take a look at the Servinfo program to see if you see yourself online after you’ve done the procedures.

For FSInn/VATSIM issues, please test the FSInn Installation sticky and linked FAQ. It really works!

i'm a n00b myself...and i was told all i needed was SB3. and sure enough, that was it.

i've even gotten another VA pilot to get on VATSIM for the first time, he too is using just SB3.

you said you have FSINN and RogerWilco and AVC? sounds like to me you have way too much stuff.

i would uninstall everything else and just install SB3. once you get that up and running and you get familiar with it, then i'd venture to FSINN and AVC/RogerWilco and others.

There are two new software SquawkBox 3 (SB3), and FSInn. You can chose one of them or try both. They have same purpose, to be the client software for VATSIM, but different design and some different options.

Note FSInn work with Win98, while SB3 does not.

FSInn require also program AVC for voice while SB3 does not require any more program.
