With Gary's permission I would like to make this post on behalf of the members of VATCAN to thank VATUSA for their co-operation and friendship, especially this past weekend with two very successful joint-participation events.

The first event Crossing the Pond 2008 also involved VATUK who we would like to thank as well. Needless to say traffic levels were on a scale never witnessed by the author in 6 years of VATSIM duty. ATC coverage was spectacular only dwarfed by the participation of VATSIM's pilots! It was my first time for this event and it will not be my last. The organizers are to be commended for a FIRST CL[Mod - Happy Thoughts] EVENT and I can [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ure you that VATCAN will eagerly participate in all future CTPs. Thank you for including the ZUL FIR, making Montreal the first ever Canadian airport to be included as a destination for CTP, and we welcome the opportunity to show you many of our other fine airports in future events ( sorry it's my job to promote Canada.) Well done and thank you to all who made the event such a huge success, pilots and ATC...mind you I'm still waiting for the beer I was promised!

On Sunday, ZLA and ZVR co-sponsored the Western Marathon which didn't involve quite the same number of participants, but was very successful in it's own right. There were approximately 160 aircraft movements at Vancouver International for the event, with Los Angeles having the same or more as some pilots chose to fly to Seattle and Portland rather than venture into the Great White North (you don't need a p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]port on VATSIM folks, come the extra 160 miles next time!) Once again thanks to all the controllers at ZLA and ZVR with special thanks to ZSE and ZOA for superior enroute service. Great job everyone!

Of course I would like to thank all of the pilots who participated in both events, without them these would have been nothing.

We look forward to more joint co-operation events with our southern neighbors. Thank you VATUSA.

Don't forget ZSE, ZOA, and ZLC showed up to keep the 'conga lines' moving in both directions. Kudo's to them as well!

the pilots didn't like my voice problems, its no fun for everyone when the controller is text only. I apologize to everyone that flew through ZOA for the voice problems. It was an excellent weekend for events as the ZLA/ZVR generated a very good amount of enroute traffic.

Greg, it really wasn't that bad, and you were working your tail off to get everyone going where they needed to be going. You did a fine job. Finally managed to fly another event, from CYVR back home to LAX, and service was great the whole way. Nice job guys!

Thanks Bryan I appreciate it. Some pilots left some not so kind things for me and ZOA staff about me choosing to control on text rather than voice. Haha it wasn't my choice guys. Although it should be fixed so now so everyone come on back to ZOA!

Just for the record Greg, we had a few "voice" issues in CZVR that had one or two controllers resorting to text, and yes the FIR Chief received a complaint, so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself...these things happen and at least you continued to serve your pilots the best you could.

Wow! At least most of the pilots are appreciative of ATC in any shape or form. Sorry to hear that Alan. I hope all is well.

You guys really did a nice job. I could see the "conga line" from the scopes in ZDV. I still don't know who forgot to drop track of AMT8808 .
