Leslie Jarrett 913775 Posted April 15, 2008 at 11:45 AM Posted April 15, 2008 at 11:45 AM Very soon there will be a new virtual airline in the VATAME region. I was hoping to start an Air Mauritius Virtual but the 'real-world' airline did not give me permission to use therir name and logo. They also said that I should not use their paint scheme in flight simulator as well (oops there are plenty of Air Mauritius paited aircraft in Flight Simulator). However being a responsible VATSIM member I felt that to avoid some unwated 'legal' woes etc. that the best way was to invent a virtual airline. The name will be MAURINDAIR (Mauritius Independant Airline) If anybody could come up with a logo then that would be nice to help. I was thinking of the Mauritius coat of arms. and a paint scheme using the mauritius flag colors in some way. Regards Leslie Jarrett

Leslie Jarrett 913775 Posted April 15, 2008 at 02:18 PM Author Posted April 15, 2008 at 02:18 PM The name is short MAURINDAIR just like the dutch airline MARTINAIR i think that is how it was spelt The reference in brackets was how I derived the name I think that your re-painting skills will come inrto good use !!!! and whereever possible all 100% credit on any repaints including readme file should be yours for the re-paint. Another feather in your re-painting cv. I am using the VADMIN free VA software to start things up as the main area is setting up and an instantly ready and free script should help the process I will set you up with admin rights as well and send you the URL for the suite sometime tonight. Tony Kovacs 958372 Posted April 15, 2008 at 11:32 PM Posted April 15, 2008 at 11:32 PM What a bunch of morons at Mauritius. They should be thanking people for taking an interest in their puny airline or at the very least setting up some conditions but not rejecting something positive like this. If I wanted to start this VA I would put it on a server where they cannot touch and send them a screenshot of it with the address on a postcard and tell them that they are not allowed to join. You know some people are in the airline business for other reasons then that they enjoy aviation. But even then I think that what they said is rediculous. Does anyone know, does Mauritius have a copyright on the word morons, just want to make sure I don't get into trouble by them for saying that? Leslie Jarrett 913775 Posted April 16, 2008 at 06:57 AM Author Posted April 16, 2008 at 06:57 AM From what I have found out there seems to have been several Virtual Air Mauritius operating in the past and quite probably they were set up without permission and were forced to close. I do agree that Air Mauritius could easily be part of the Virtual airline world but unfortunately if others were using their logo or even cloning parts of the web-site to make a Virtual Air Mauritius without asking permission have spoilt it for others because now Air Mauritius is upset and will not allow anyone. Because I am VATSIM registered I have to act responsibly and therefore my choice of name was to be logically linked to Mauritius but without using any real world names or logos. Besides which my routes and schedules will now exceed the real world Air Mauritius as I do not have to follow any comparision with real world. I will look at setting up some routes into the VATDRC area for your ATC people

Leslie Jarrett 913775 Posted April 23, 2008 at 09:24 PM Author Posted April 23, 2008 at 09:24 PM Kenya is there from the start, what I have done is work from Real World Timetables so as to give a reasonable look. As it is not based on a real world airline except in having routes and schedules there is no reason to add more when it get going. The software I am using will allow it . It is easy to do as I do not have to have every flight starting from or arriving at FIMP. The airline is going to be there for anyone to join in and request routes etc that they would like added in. I believe that unlike some of the other virtual airline around my routes and schedules will be based on a core set for everyone to share and use and to grow new routes thus giving everyone a small share in the airline as such. Likewise the choice of aeroplane will not be limited to the initial set. If somebody wants to fly a Ba146 from Capetown to Harare as part of Maurindair then it will be set up to include this. I believe that the independant nature means that more fun can be had , rather than trying to 100% mimic a real world airline. I am getting excited about this as the software seems very easy to use. As a pre-taste of the openess I am trying to put into this there will not be any of this checkride and starting from zero hours. I will load up your VATSIM hours if any on application. I.e. if you have flown 600 hrs with BRitish Airways Virtual then you have 600 hours experience. I am not going to have loads of meaningless posts for this as it should not be complicated to use as a pilot and a nightmare to administe. I like any of the pilots and ATC want to be flying and controlling as much as possible rather than filing in to many forms etc.
