Wade Williams 877539 Posted April 30, 2008 at 02:58 AM Posted April 30, 2008 at 02:58 AM I definitely would not use a mini for flight sims. iMac, MacBook Pro or MacPro.

Yevgeny Beedin 1016679 Posted May 1, 2008 at 05:51 AM Posted May 1, 2008 at 05:51 AM It might run OK if you turn all the settings down to bare minimums. Otherwise you'll run out of framerate real quick. The graphics on the Mini are just awful. I would strongly suggest saving up for at least an iMac, especially if X-Plane is one of your primary applications.
Peter Larsen 885332 Posted May 1, 2008 at 07:16 PM Author Posted May 1, 2008 at 07:16 PM What would good specs. on an Imac be for running xplane decently?, and are Intel processores really better than PPC?.
Wade Williams 877539 Posted May 1, 2008 at 08:45 PM Posted May 1, 2008 at 08:45 PM Since the last PPC Macs are now several generations old with several generations old graphics hardware, yes, there's no question that the Intel processors are "better" than PPC.' Like with any 3D application, buy the most machine you can afford. Don't go over your budget, but if you can afford a top-end iMac, don't get the low-end. Or if you can afford a MacBook Pro, don't skimp and get the MacBook. When dealing with machines with integrated graphics, (including all-in-one PC's and PC laptops) you want to get the most machine you can so it will last as long as possible before it finally falls too far behind the curve to be useful.
