I amthinking about bying a new mac mini since the one i am using are PPC, 1.24 Ghz and 128 MB Ram and using mac osx 10.3 (Panther).

The new mac are an Intel with 1.80 Ghz with 1 GB Ram and Leopard.

What y'all think?.

I definitely would not use a mini for flight sims. iMac, MacBook Pro or MacPro.

A MacBook would run X-Plane beautifully, I know first-hand.

It might run OK if you turn all the settings down to bare minimums. Otherwise you'll run out of framerate real quick. The graphics on the Mini are just awful. I would strongly suggest saving up for at least an iMac, especially if X-Plane is one of your primary applications.

Since the last PPC Macs are now several generations old with several generations old graphics hardware, yes, there's no question that the Intel processors are "better" than PPC.'

Like with any 3D application, buy the most machine you can afford. Don't go over your budget, but if you can afford a top-end iMac, don't get the low-end. Or if you can afford a MacBook Pro, don't skimp and get the MacBook.

When dealing with machines with integrated graphics, (including all-in-one PC's and PC laptops) you want to get the most machine you can so it will last as long as possible before it finally falls too far behind the curve to be useful.
