Luca Vetturi 874351 Posted May 7, 2008 at 10:50 AM Posted May 7, 2008 at 10:50 AM As you know, SIDs and STARs can have a transition. How does Euroscope handle this? example: Sid ABC1A, with transition HELLO5T (brings from ABC to HELLO). If, in the [sIDSSTARS] section of the ese file, I define ABC1A as a sid which brings from airport to ABC, and another sid HELLO5T which brings from ABC to HELLO, will it work? Red over white, you're all right. Italy vACC proud supporter
Todor Atanasov 878664 Posted May 7, 2008 at 12:53 PM Posted May 7, 2008 at 12:53 PM I'm not 100% sure that ES will [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign the two SID. Altho I can say that SID/STAR transition was discussed as a feature for the next release and may be included. Luca Vetturi 874351 Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:26 PM Author Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:26 PM Will it be included in the next version or not? I'm asking just to avoid having to re-write the ESE file in a few weeks. Red over white, you're all right. Italy vACC proud supporter
Stephan Boerner 945550 Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:32 PM Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:32 PM Well, it has been brought up again, as it already came up before the last release. The problem seems to be, that SIDs/STARs in ES don't work that way so they would have to be rewritten, and there hasn't been much need for it to justify a change. Maybe we could (once again) evaluate the need for this change to check the priority this would have. Luca Vetturi 874351 Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:34 PM Author Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:34 PM Ah ok... Just out of curiosity, what actually SID and STAR do in the ESE file then? To calculate estimates? or for the Sector inbound list? Red over white, you're all right. Italy vACC proud supporter
Stephan Boerner 945550 Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:42 PM Posted May 7, 2008 at 04:42 PM No, what I meant is, that there is only one SID per flight and only one STAR per flight, so right now you can not combine a SID/STAR and a transition. This would have to be changed. I think someone from the US brought that issue up earlier and worked around it by define each SID/transition combination as unique SID. Personally I think this would be something that might be worth changing ... it's just a matter of priority, [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming that a change is possible without too much effort. So even if this might be changed in the future, it will probably take a while. Gergely Csernak Posted May 10, 2008 at 07:45 PM Posted May 10, 2008 at 07:45 PM Luca, Stephan is right. In this version you can only [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign one SID and one STAR for a flight plan. So the only thing you can do is to define all STAR+transition combinations (are there extreme amount of them?). EuroScope uses the points of the SIDs and STARs to make a more precise route calculation. Actually not for more. You also have the possibility to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign and to display the [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned values in the lists and in the TAG. Gergely. Luca Vetturi 874351 Posted May 11, 2008 at 12:01 AM Author Posted May 11, 2008 at 12:01 AM Ok I see... but is your plan to implement it or to let it be this way? Gergely Csernak Posted May 13, 2008 at 07:01 PM Posted May 13, 2008 at 07:01 PM Luca, I think that this option is worth developing, but I can not define when it will be available. There are just too many great ideas around. If you would like to use this feature in EuroScope in the next half a year I suggest to continue with this definition. Gergely. Gergely.
