Rodney Aylmore 944715 Posted May 13, 2008 at 06:09 AM Posted May 13, 2008 at 06:09 AM Ok, After being heavily disappointed by FS-X and with fs2004 just not making the cut anymore i've turned to the darkside (the xplane side) Obviously ill need XSquawkbox. I'am mainly interested in commercial airline simulation so is there a PMDG alternate for x-plane? Cheers
Wade Williams 877539 Posted May 13, 2008 at 03:03 PM Posted May 13, 2008 at 03:03 PM Best thing to look at is XPFW aircraft: http://xplanefreeware.net/ X-Plane has some nice heavy metal aircraft available - from a flight model perspective. However, X-Plane has nothing akin to the PMDG in terms of systems / number of switches to flip. Your 20 minute startup procedure is now 3 minutes and 5 switches. Roy Evans 1061333 Posted June 13, 2008 at 04:43 PM Posted June 13, 2008 at 04:43 PM The XPFW heavies are probably the finest free x-plane aircraft out there. But, I really like the x737 (found here http://www.eadt.eu/xplane/Home.html ). It has a few drop-down overhead panels that add to the realism, plus if I remember correctly, it renders a banana bar on the MFD, much like FS aircraft do. Carl Villalanti 1024086 Posted June 18, 2008 at 11:07 PM Posted June 18, 2008 at 11:07 PM There are still quite a few issues using xpfw version 8 in x-plane 9. hopefully they will begin releasing v9 soon!
Roy Evans 1061333 Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:12 AM Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:12 AM There's some V9 a/c on xpfw, if you become a beta tester (which is a mere formality). Roy Evans II ZDV_RE, C1
