Brad Littlejohn Posted June 9, 2008 at 10:56 PM Posted June 9, 2008 at 10:56 PM Forgive me for using the USA forum for this, but seeing as what's happened over the past day.. well.. I hope you'll understand. Jason, if you're out there, give us a shout on here!! For those not in the know, overnight, an F2 tornado just went through my hometown of Omaha, and did a considerable amount of damage (came out fast enough that the Nat'l Weather service didn't have enough time to send the tornado warning out so the sirens could go off!). I haven't read or heard of any fatalities yet (my parent's house is okay! ) but I know we have a couple of guys there that may have been hit. So if you're out there and were (or weren't) affected, drop in to say so! BL. Brad Littlejohn ZLA Senior Controller
Andrew Doubleday Posted June 9, 2008 at 11:04 PM Posted June 9, 2008 at 11:04 PM Had one reported in Mundelein, IL, right down the road from my house back home in Chicago... Mother is alright thankfully. Certainly been some extreme weather through the upper midwest this past week. I was looking at the Amarillo radar last night and seeing 75DBZ returns (white)... tops to FL550... looked quite intense... -AJ Andrew James Doubleday | Twitch Stream: Ground_Point_Niner University of North Dakota | FAA Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) Graduate

Brad Littlejohn Posted June 10, 2008 at 05:58 PM Author Posted June 10, 2008 at 05:58 PM (edited) Wow, Hope everyone's ok http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=2798&u_sid=10353311 http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=2798&u_sid=10353396 Shows some of it. Path of the tornado barely missed KMLE. There's also a gallery of photos on Omaha.com's splash page, so you should get a good idea of where it went through. The second link has a timeline of what happened, and how it happened so fast that the NWS/NOAA didn't get a chance to put the Tornado warning out. chilling stuff, but will probably be a budding meteorologist's dream! EDIT: Gotta love the photo of the splinter from the tree sticking out the side of the hood of the lady's car! BL. And worst of it, the weather isn't done with the midwest yet. Hey, Jason! If you're out there, let everyone know if you're doing okay! BL.
