I didn't see it "announced" anywhere, but somehow I was lucky enough to get caught up in an "event" in K.C. Center last night.

It was totally amazing.

The 1's were active and they were rolling in at 5nm intervals. It was great. The servers bucked a little, but then settled down. It was just as much fun to be on the ground to watch them all come in. I landed and then departed again.

The guys did a fantastic job! And SB3 was great for watching the whole thing, plus the T-storms rolling made for that eerie purple green sky.....

Anyway, not sure if it was an event or not, but it was a lot of FUN! Thanks to the guys in K.C.!!!

Jeff,

You managed to stumble across the TGIF event. Those events are wild. I heard a rumor that last night there was 80+ planes that flew into MCI. Stunning.

Late chiming in...

That thing was, to say the least, a controllers nightmare! But it was fun also. The servers didn't help much. I got booted off, then 45 minutes after getting back on, we had big boomers roll through and I lost power. The guys that were still on stepped up bigtime.

Glad you enjoyed it Jeff...at one point, I (who was working Kansas City West approach) told the Center guys to stick em in a hold while we recovered from the server belch. About 20 minutes of recircling aircraft into a manageable position worked out fine, then I told my centers to start peelin' em off.....

...then I lost power for two hours

It was fun though, and 80 inbounds is about right
