I have some questions i will stated them below,

I'm currently an C1 controller at VATCAR in the CuracaoFIR,

and i would like to know what i have to do to join KZMA ARTCC without having to leave my current FIR at VATCAR.

Is it possible to control in both the Caribbean Region & the KZMA ARTCC?

If any of you can answer this, feel free to do it.

Thank you,

You can control at both, fortunately. Simply request to become a Visiting Controller. This will allow you to remain at your current FIR and also work at ZMA. You'll have to get your certifications at ZMA to work positions, but seeing you are already a C1, that probably won't be an issue. The instructors at ZMA are great, very easy to get set up with a session.

To become a visiting controller simply visit this link: http://www.zmaartcc.org/index.php?id=200 .

Best of luck, hope to see you on the scopes soon!

Yeah, i already filled the form up yesterday.

The problem is im in the Caribbean region, and it would not be possible to register at VATUSA for the training purposes?

You don't need to become a member in VATUSA, just a visitor of the ZMA ARTCC. ZMA instructors will train you once you have p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed the Basic/SOP exam.

There is no problem in relation to a controller maintaining a HOME base and being a visiting controller elsewhere; even at more than one other location.

The GRP establishes controller standards in relation to each ATC rating. If a controller transfers or wants to be a visiting controller elsewhere then the actual knowledge and skill [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociated with their ATC rating is completely portable. The only thing that is different is the airspace; its features and procedures since these vary and are determined locally.

The policy for transferring or visiting can be found under EC policies:

http://www.vatsim.net/EC/policies.htm

This policy should be read in conjunction with the TWR (S1) [Mod - Happy Thoughts]essment Guide; which graphically shows the entry of a transferee or visiting controller. The TWR (S1) training/[Mod - Happy Thoughts]essment model should also be used for TMA (S3) and Enroute (C1).

The new division should first carry out a brief spot check for basic rating competency in accordance with the above policy. In the case of standard airspace with simple procedures; that is all that is necessary in order to gain a transfer or visiting controller status at the controller's current rating level.

For more complex airspace it may be necessary to provide some orientation training for induction into the new airspace.

Having accepted the basic competency for the controller's current rating, the orientation training should only deal with knowledge not contained within the controller's current rating in their HOME division. As far as skill is concerned, it is not necessary to re-train what has already been trained since that is inefficient.

The whole purpose of the GRP is to set appropriate standards and provide a framework of training and [Mod - Happy Thoughts]essment that is efficient and allow portability. The goal is to ensure maximum coverage of available ATC without compromising controller standards. The EC policy requires training facilities to reach that goal in the most efficient way possible.
