Gus Petrogiannis 824838 Posted July 19, 2008 at 06:16 AM Posted July 19, 2008 at 06:16 AM Hi folks, I recently upgraded my computer and I am running Vista Home Premium, which seems to dislike FS 2004 and FS X. Here are the problems: FS 2004 will load FINE, however once you get into the cockpit if you pan left or right or change views the screen freezes and stays the same, the picture won't change. FS X on the other hand will make it to the Free Flight screen, when I go into start flight it will load halfway and then it will stop responding. I am running Service Pack 1 and 2 for FSX. My system specs are as follows: Vista Home Premium 3.5 GB RAM AMD Athlon Processor 6000+ 3.01 Ghz Nvidia GeoForce 8600 GT Graphics Card ........................... As an old school flight simulator from the days of FS98... I'm sure there are others out there who can share my frustration, it seems that every time a new version is released there are nothing but problems. Hopefully someone else out there has experienced the same situation and knows the fix! Thanks. -Gus

Kyle Steever 810905 Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:27 AM Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:27 AM Gus, I need the following before rendering [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance: Version of your graphics drivers Is your windows vista completely updated (you can find out if you have them by going to windows updates)? Do you have Vista SP1 installed? (Right click My computer---> Properties and it will be right there) Are you running FS9.1 or 9.0? vZME Air Traffic Manager ... --- ... ... --- ... Steve Jones 971079 Posted July 29, 2008 at 09:30 AM Posted July 29, 2008 at 09:30 AM I am having the same problem as well. I am running Vista Home Premium SP1, FS9.1, an ATI Radeon 1200 driver version 8.393.0.0 dated 7/13/07.
Kyle Steever 810905 Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:26 PM Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:26 PM (edited) Steve and gus, When switching views, doubletap escape as fast as you can. See if that gets the screen moving again. You should only have to do it right after you switch the view. Let me know if this works and we can go from there... (Edit) I had what sounds like the same problem as you guys. It's a driver issue with FS/your Card/Vista. I think if you turn off the Aero Interface for Vista it may correct the problem too, but it will take away all the "eye candy" for vista. I preferred the double tap escape method. You shouldn't be flipping views at critical times anyway (like on the flare). Kyle Edited July 29, 2008 at 10:05 PM by Guest vZME Air Traffic Manager ... --- ... ... --- ... Steve Jones 971079 Posted July 29, 2008 at 09:39 PM Posted July 29, 2008 at 09:39 PM Thanks Kyle, I'll give it a try once I re-install FS again.
Kyle Steever 810905 Posted July 29, 2008 at 10:08 PM Posted July 29, 2008 at 10:08 PM At one time I did have FS configured to work, but new drivers came out and I had to go back to doing what I described in my earlier post with double tapping escape. Not much else you an do with Vista and FS9 since it's an older program. vZME Air Traffic Manager ... --- ... ... --- ...
