Hi Luke, its probably down for some unscheduled non-planned maintenance work . . . .

Hopefully it should be back up some time on Monday, I've noticed that not a lot happens over week ends. (thats a good way of getting it back up - just to prove me wrong).

Hopefully one of the VATSIM UK staff will post details on here shortly . . . . .

Cheers now

Bob

Not sure what the procedure is here, or even where information is posted.

I've emailed Alan Hunter, VATSIM-UK webmaster. Hopefully he can liase with whoever needs to give the server a swift kick.

Simon, that can only happen when Gunnar is away and, as far as I'm aware, he isn't. Having said that, it can also happen when either someone takes an unhealthy interest in fences or perhaps a dangerous fascination with orange juice. The occasional sale of an pseudo-Evo can also cause problems at times. Now, it is entirely possible that Lee was experimenting with an early model Orange Juice Bomb without the required containment device and that may have led to the problem with the server... on the other hand he may not have been. I intend sitting on Gordon's Fence on that one.

I hope this helps.

Excellent - we will be able to blame the French for this shortly

In all seriousness, the server owner is aware of the problems and is on the case!

It's a little more than that not working. I have one of my domains email accounts on the same box and its not responding either. I'm sure liek Simon says, that the server owner will apply brute force soon enough.

James, I don't think you should be quite so rushed in ruling out the kitchen sink. If you had kept up with the earlier OJB experiments you might have been aware that the kitchen sink played an important role in the containing of the explosive fall-out. Since, in the early days, we had no sure way of knowing the radius of the contamination that could result from a full-scale OJB erupton we used the kitchen sink as the last line of defence. Now, if Lee was by any chance using a similar containment device for orange juice explosions but was using a sub-standard kitchen sink then containment may well have failed and extensive contamination of the server taken place. At this time I therefore have an open mind as regards the kitchen sink until further analysis has taken place, I would urge you to exercise similar caution.

I hope this helps.

Bill, sure, but, I'd have gone for a dustbin as it's larger and used correctly then when it blows it goes higher and due to its size will no doubt contain a greater amount of contamination

James

Now I really am glad I transferred in from VATEUD, vACC Espana.

If this had happened there I really wouldn't have a clue what was going on.....Hold on, even in English I'm no better off.

Somebody is not kicking that server hard enough.

Forget Essex, can we move the border to a litttle south of Alicante?

Well, it would appear that Gunnar is in fact away after all. We can therefore put the blame fair and square on Gunnar and his violin.
