Eric Bolt Posted July 28, 2008 at 08:33 PM Posted July 28, 2008 at 08:33 PM So I took a tour of BDL TWR yesterday along with the Y90 TRACON and I learned something really interesting. When Bradley has delays, it is to a certain DP point, such as the CTR VOR or the CAM VOR. Also, they are told when aircraft going to that DP can be released. I was just wondering if there is any website in which we can find about these delays, not just out of BDL but out of any airport. (Other than the FAA page where it only talks about delays for the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]engers) Thanks Eric R. Bolt
Justin A. Martin Posted July 28, 2008 at 10:22 PM Posted July 28, 2008 at 10:22 PM Not sure about a website, but what you're talking about is closing departure gates. The purpose of this is often weather over these gates. JM
Nicholas Fredrich 827138 Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:35 AM Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:35 AM Eric, The delays to which you are refering are TMU initiated... meaning they come from the center... they send out a GI (general inquiry message) to the different "teirs" of airports using the FDIO system to institude MINIT, MIT, DSP and EDCT times. These delays are not posted anywhere to my knowledge other than at the FD positions at the different facilities. Hope that helps. Nick
Eric Bolt Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:37 AM Author Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:37 AM It would be sweet if we could find those. Eric R. Bolt
Nicholas Fredrich 827138 Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:39 AM Posted July 29, 2008 at 02:39 AM My guess is that you won't... If you could the pilots wouldn't be pestering me for updates to ground stops and EDCT times. I could be wrong though Nick
Matt Bromback Posted July 29, 2008 at 03:55 AM Posted July 29, 2008 at 03:55 AM try out this link http://www.fly.faa.gov/ois/ You can look up overall system status, re-routes, and restrictions. The restrictions page is my favorite because you can pull up the CTR you are working and look at all the initiatives that are in place from surrounding sectors, MIT, and pretty much anything else that needs to be done! Hope this is what your looking for.... Matt Bromback Air Traffic Manager N[Mod - Happy Thoughts]au FIR
Dan McCabe 898634 Posted July 29, 2008 at 01:31 PM Posted July 29, 2008 at 01:31 PM Yeah there is no database that I know of where these restrictions are placed. When this happens to us...(once a week this time of year)...a sup usually walks down and says..."You're single stream, 10 in trail out of the EATWO gate." Benton Wilmes Posted July 30, 2008 at 07:13 AM Posted July 30, 2008 at 07:13 AM The only "real-time" database for TMU initiatives, restrictions, reroute, etc is only available to TMU units, airlines, and the Command Center. This database is a log of everything that is being coordinated between the facilities. Of course, that log never includes everything that is going on as every facility puts out items without logging it. The only way to know exactly what is going on at any one time at a facility is to actually be there with them. Saying that, the FAA does put out a decent site that includes a lot of what is actually going on at the time, which could include playbooks, ground stops, ground delay programs, etc... The site is http://www.fly.faa.gov. If you click on Products up top, you'll get a list of basically all the information that the FAA makes public. Best links (my opinion) are the Advisories Database, Current Reroutes, Current Restrictions, National Playbook, and the Operational Information System. To go along with your original question (kinda guessing on what you are asking), if you are trying to find an EDCT for a flight, there is a link for that in the Products section of that site. That can only be used for ground delay programs and other things like that. If its just a general delay like volume or multi taxi, then you can't find that anywhere. There is an art . . . to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. Benton Wilmes
Alex Evins 976213 Posted July 30, 2008 at 02:16 PM Posted July 30, 2008 at 02:16 PM Flightaware now incorporates EDCT ("wheels up time") into their flight tracking Alex Evins Senior Controller, New York ARTCC
