Kyle Mayfield 1069761 Posted July 29, 2008 at 01:19 AM Posted July 29, 2008 at 01:19 AM I just downloaded all of the software and thought i had an idea of what was going on. I then got in the plane and realized i had no idea what to do. I may be a little dense with this but i am lost and need direction to either a link to a step by step what to do guide, or a kind soul to walk me through even getting connected and on from there... Thanks

Go to the front page and click on the red link, “New Pilots Start here†sticky: Not a regular post, but a special thread/message stuck to the top with special meaning… containing important forum information. I’ll have to experiment to see how to produce a stuck mic. The pilot clients have an inherent design to avoid that condition. Maybe there might be a problem with your PTT choice. It would appear that the cap’s lock and the numluck keys might cause such condition in some environments by toggling the transmission either on or off, where as the shift or control keys would only be on while holding the key down. Which key do you have set for your PTT? Consider setting it for either the right or left control key and see if that helps. If you already have a control key set, try setting it for the alternate control key and see if that fixes your open mic condition. -- L. James -- L. D. Frederick Daugherty 106964 Posted July 31, 2008 at 05:12 AM Posted July 31, 2008 at 05:12 AM I appreciate the quick response..I have been experimenting with the vatsim flying and still use the text for tx . I can rec voice most of time..Do most of flyers use the headset mic combination or do I use something else..I paid 40 dollars for it..I have the plugs in the front of my computer..should I move them to the back receptacles? also when using the transponder, do I use the vatsim mode c ,stanby etc. or ok to use my level d 767 switch..Vatsim is great..I live near kboi and maybe I should check out being atc. I would be willing to give out my phone number to talk to real person if neccesary...Thank you.
