Dylan Weeks 1070661 Posted August 5, 2008 at 07:49 AM Posted August 5, 2008 at 07:49 AM (edited) i have x plane v8.64 and xsquawkbox vatsim 1.0.2. i cannot seem to get it to connect. i put the plugin files into the folder but when it goes to connect, it just pauses then disconnects...no errors at all. i know my vatsim account works because i had a friend login on his computer. just for the record i have a real mac...PowerPC. im not sure if it even works with power pc but i didnt see anything that said otherwise. please if anyone has any helpful information it would be greatly appreciated. i am an aspiring pilot working on my instrument rating and i would love to be able to get some simulation time with a controller to work on some approaches without having to pay for it. thanks in advance Edited August 6, 2008 at 05:25 AM by Guest
Wade Williams 877539 Posted August 5, 2008 at 03:26 PM Posted August 5, 2008 at 03:26 PM The current version of XSquawkBox is 1.02. Earlier either have been, or will be disallowed from the network. Make sure you have the latest. http://www.xsquawkbox.net/xsb/download.php
Dylan Weeks 1070661 Posted August 5, 2008 at 04:20 PM Author Posted August 5, 2008 at 04:20 PM Yea sorry thats the version i have i typed it wrong i have 1.0.2 installed. is there another server/network out there besides vatsim to use just to see if xsquawkbox is working? I was thinking it could be firewall issue from some of the posts i was reading online.
Wade Williams 877539 Posted August 5, 2008 at 09:23 PM Posted August 5, 2008 at 09:23 PM im not sure if it even works with power pc but i didnt see anything that said otherwise. It definitely works on PowerPC Macs. No, there's no other network with which to test. If you think the firewall is at fault, disable the firewall and try it. If it works, re-enable the firewall and then work on figuring out which ports are blocked.
Dylan Weeks 1070661 Posted August 6, 2008 at 05:24 AM Author Posted August 6, 2008 at 05:24 AM I removed the XSquawkbox plugin and tried running a different one....IVAP and i used the Xplane.org(xplugin) created an account and logged in with no problems. http://xfsd.x-plugins.com/. Any ideas why the .org server would let me connect and not the vatsim one? There has to be a way for me to connect.
