Dave Catalani Posted August 12, 2008 at 04:15 PM Posted August 12, 2008 at 04:15 PM I am in the market for a new desktop and have been considering a Dell XPS 730 series. Can anyone give me some advise as to which model will run FSX online with good results. Keep in mind that I am trying to keep to a budget. Steven Perry Posted August 12, 2008 at 04:59 PM Posted August 12, 2008 at 04:59 PM ...Can anyone give me some advise as to which model will run FSX online with good results.... Define good? And define budget? I put together a Mobo, CPU, Graphics card, and RAM (with scavenged other parts) for less than $500 in March 07 and it can get me 20+ fps in a default FSX aircraft with moderate static scenery and no dynamic scenery. PMDG will knock me back to 10-15fps. Dynamic scenery/autogen is out of the question though. If $500 17 months ago can give me "good" performance (by my standards) then the entry level 730 (starts @ $1900 on that page) ought to keep you happy enough.... you poor, poor man. Dave Catalani Posted August 12, 2008 at 08:20 PM Author Posted August 12, 2008 at 08:20 PM Well, I am hoping the lower end of the XPS 730's will give me good performance. Seeing how many people have been dissapointed with FSX, I just want to make sure I get enough graphics power to run FSX smotth while on VASTIM. I am fortunate that my company will reimburse me $1000 as I need it to work from home.
