Aaron Danks 1071982 Posted September 1, 2008 at 07:05 AM Posted September 1, 2008 at 07:05 AM At the top of your main cockpit panel just below the window is the 737's "Mode Control Panel" (or MCP). You will want to: 1. Switch Flight Director on (F/D switch) 2. Arm the auto-throttle (A/T switch) 3. Using the IAS/Mach knob, select the indicated airspeed in knots that you wish to hold (good settings for a 737 are 240 KIAS below 10,000 ft or 320 KIAS above) 4. Using the altitude knob, set the altitude you wish to hold 5. turn on speed hold (button labelled "speed") 6. turn on altitude hold (button labelled "altitude") 7. If you also want to hold a heading, select a heading with the "heading" knob and switch on Heading hold 7. switch on the autopilot (A/P button, or hit 'Z' on keyboard)
