Hi all,

I'm a relative newbie to European flying, but was working on a route from EGLL to EDDH.

What I found was:

SID.BPK M185 CLN UL620 TULIP UR12 GRONY UG105 EEL G10 LBE.STAR

Now, I've been looking at the enroute UK and German charts and I'm fine following the route up to UL620. However, after that, I can't find UR12 GRONY UG105 EEL or G10 anywhere on the German low or high enroute charts. Where should I be looking?

Michael,

Yeah, I guess so. I'm just not a big fan of FMS flight. I much prefer to fly VOR to VOR (gives me more to do). However, it seems most routes in Europe basically [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume you're RNAV.

The route given is:

BPK UM185 CLN UL620 TULIP UY12 SPY UN873 GRONY UM105 EEL UN125 REVLA T907 SORUN T903 RIBSO

However, here's the problem. How can I fly UM105 between GRONY and EEL if I can't find UM105 on an enroute chart? I suppose I can just [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume that UM105 contains no turns, but can I be sure of that unless I verify it by looking on an enroute chart?

First of all: Sorry for showing rather big images and therefore forcing some of you to scroll horizontally in this thread!!

Hello Wade!

There are two solutions for your problem:

1st solution: www.vatroute.net (as Michael already said):

- Go to www.vatroute.net

- Enter your route: EGLL - EDDH and click on "GO"

- When you got the route, click on Details (see image)

Then you will see this:

2nd solution: You can access almost every enroute and aerodrome chart of every "Eurocontrol - country" by going to: http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/publicuser/public/pu/login.jsp

You will see the login page where you (if you have no account) have to register for free:

tutorial3wg1.jpg

After registration and login you are on the main page:

The application will load:

Confirm the "Important legal notice":

Now you are in the "EAD Advanced Application Access Area":

A new browser window will open:

Follow the instructions on the image. (The window will of course look like the "blank" window above before completing step 1 & 2):

A new window will pop up:

w1280.png

After that the complete enroute chart for the Netherlands will open as a PDF docomeent in your browser:

w1024.png

BTW: To get the German enroute chart:

Last step: Have fun in Europe!!!!

Kind regards from Germany,

Whilst I enjoy FMS flight, you can't beat a bit of old-school nav!

Thanks for your help with that Ingmar.

I am [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming you got that off the "free route finder" website (rfinder.asalink.net)

I would avoid that for finding routes, it does not take many things into account whilst creating a route

Hi Ingmar,

The examples you have gived above are really good and clear for new pilots who sometimes do get lost trying to understads all this, you mind if i lift this out of here and repost in the vateud-td section?
