Wayne Lam 1065884 Posted October 20, 2008 at 12:23 AM Posted October 20, 2008 at 12:23 AM Hi, I'm a new member (Pilot) and want to do some basic listening as recommended. Which airport should I position myself to hear some interaction between Pilots and ATC? I am a real pilot, based at KFRG. I use FSX and when positioned at the ramp (as recommended) and connected to VATSIM via Squawkbox, I do not hear any conversation. Is there a place I can lookup which airport is "busy" with other VATSIM ATC members and Pilots?
Wade Williams 877539 Posted October 20, 2008 at 12:32 AM Posted October 20, 2008 at 12:32 AM Most of the larger airports are busy. My (biased) opinion says listen at KLAX or KATL. (Disclaimer: I control in ZLA and have friends that control in ZTL)
Matthew Bonnett 1053110 Posted October 20, 2008 at 01:01 AM Posted October 20, 2008 at 01:01 AM My personal advice: Grab a program called Vatspy which will give you a graphic display of all the pilots and controllers online and you can quickly find a busy airport to listen in at.
