Hi, Joey. The answer to this question is the same as the answer to your previous question. Take a look at the message you quoted from Romano, and I repeated in your other thread. I gave my answer to you in that manner to help you avoid (have answers to) other problems.

Again, follow the suggestions in the bold items #1 and #3.

I didn’t know you didn’t understand it. It was the same answer given to you in your previous thread. If you didn’t understand it, I thought you might have mentioned that in your previous thread.

In your previous thread you said you couldn’t see aircraft. Romano check out the FSInn Help forum. In that forum is the following sticky that will resolve most issues with FSInn. He linked you to it:

Please read before posting in this forum:

http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=28720

I added that you should look at the bold items #1 and #3 to resolve the issue you were having. Bold means, words written like this. You’ll see three bold items. The first one shows two messages that should be read. If you read those two messages and follow the suggestions you probably won’t have any problems. If you do have a problem look at the suggested fix for the problem, then as the bold item #3 says, make a reference to the fix that you did so that we will know you’re having a new issue (which is a very rare occasion).

It’s better that you look at the few issues that you might encounter in one shot and deal with all of them, rather than starting a new thread for each one of them. This will save you time and it might save the next person time if they happen to read a couple of messages. They will notice that the answers to most of the questions are already addressed in the one page.

If I’m still unclear, please feel free to ask again. The bottom line is that I’m asking you to read the link given to you by Romano and ask questions using the words of the link that you don’t understand.

If following the steps suggested in the bold item #1 failed, I would be glad to know that it did (and which steps you did). It’s unlikely that it will fail. If you don’t understand the suggested steps, I would like to know that also. This is what the bold item #3 is suggesting. Please let us know if the published installation and troubleshooting steps fail.

Thanks in advance for any consideration for contributing in this matter (letting us know if our program and setup instructions work).

I am having the same issue and cant seem to resolve it. Followed all items in the sticky and still stuck.

Specs:

FSX Gold SP2

FSINN 1.3 Beta and Co-Pilot 1.7 Beta

Vista Premium Home ed.

Firewall and AV configured per sticky

FSX configured per sticky in compat mode and admin mode.

I followed the online tutorial, etc etc.

Although I have been flying on VATSIM for years with FS9 and SB, this is a very new experience with FSX and FS-Inn.

Thanks in advance for your help and if I do happen to resolve this issue on my own, I will post solution here!

Hi, Thomas. You left out a most important part in your followup. The bold item #3 of the please read sticky in the FSInn help forum asks for the specific steps you actually performed regarding your error message. If you've actually done it and it's failing, I need to know before trying to fix something that isn't necessarily broken.

Thanks in advance for providing us with the results of the published resolution, so that anyone else having any issues will realize the importance of the provides steps and understand with confidences that they consistently work.

OK, after many hours of figuring out Vista (Newbie with Vista) I was finally able to get FS Inn to work! In addition to following every step in the sticky, the following worked for me:

Vista Home Premium:

Right click on the Shortcut to FSX from the desktop. Run as adminstrator will have a sheild by it, but that is misleading.

Click on properties, select Compatibilty Tab, click the check box "Run as administrator" under privilage level. Load FSX and enjoy!

The same steps above solved my chat error issue as well.

In addition, I run FS Inn over a wireless network with no issues.

Hi, Thomas. Thanks for validating the Installation steps (provided via the Please read sticky I referenced to you above).

Are you sure you didn’t click on FSInnUI from the start menu? That’s the only thing that have ever cleared the chat error for me after hundreds of installations on 10’s of machines.

Hi Larry,

Let me clarify, to fix the chat error, I did the steps in my post above and then ran FSInn UI from the start menu without the FS running and the chat box opened no problem. I exited, then started FSX and everything worked perfect.

I thought you were trying to specify something different than what I had given you. You mentioned the placing the compatibility check mark, then said the same step fixed the chat error. The Installation steps mention the check mark for normal operation. It mentions the procedure you mentioned in this message for fixing the chat error. They are two different fixes.

I didn’t catch that you were mentioning two different ones in your other message.

Glad everything is working perfectly.
