John Dixon 1082995 Posted November 6, 2008 at 06:22 AM Posted November 6, 2008 at 06:22 AM I am experiencing the same problem others have encountered in trying to install FSCopilot 1.7. The installation process fails because it is looking for fscopilot.dll file in the wrong directory. FSX/SP1/SP2 is installed (and running property) in c:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator x. The FSCopilot 1.7 installation process creates a new directory, and is looking for FSCopilot.dll in c:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator\modules. (Note, it's not looking in c:\.... \flight simulator x\modules). I understand from other posts that the error is likely in the Windows Vista Registry. TweakNowRegCleaner.exe indicates everything is ok. RegEdit.exe indicates the corret path in the SetupPath file (... flight simulator x). I have run FSFDTToolkit.exe, which tells me nothing except that "Seems we have pb ". I am supposed to scan and repair using FSFDTToolkit, but cannot seem to find how to do that. The FSX screen show the correct path for FSX; i.e, it shows c:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator x. Also, Larry James indicated in a post that in this circomestance I should run fsxfix.exe from the download section of http://flightsim.apollo3.com. I do not see any "download section" at that site. I suppose I could try uninstalling everything (FSX, SP1 and SP2), and then reinstall it all to the directory that FSCopilot installation expects, but isn't there a way to get the installation to target the directory in which FSX is actually installed and the directory shown in the Registry SetPath file for FSX? I have some screen shots from RegEdit.exe and FSFDTToolkit, but do not know how to attach. How do you do that? Man, I am confused! Doesn't seem like it should be such a problem to install a simple little program. Thanks for any help!
John Dixon 1082995 Posted November 6, 2008 at 07:41 AM Author Posted November 6, 2008 at 07:41 AM Update. I have found fsxfix.exe, downloaded and installed. Ran it, but did not fix the problem.
John Dixon 1082995 Posted November 6, 2008 at 08:04 AM Author Posted November 6, 2008 at 08:04 AM It finally installed after running fsxfix.exe again, rebooting and using RedEdit.exe to put a \ at the end of path shown in SetupPath. Also, I deleted (not uninstalled, since the uninstaller was not available) the entire FSFDT folder (which includes FSCopilot directory) and used Regedit.exe to delete FSFDT files under local machine\software. Larry James 901346 Posted November 6, 2008 at 08:51 AM Posted November 6, 2008 at 08:51 AM Update. I have found fsxfix.exe, downloaded and installed. Ran it, but did not fix the problem. It has to be run as administrator otherwise it can't update the registry. -- L. James -- L. D.
