Mark Richards Posted November 20, 2008 at 02:06 AM Posted November 20, 2008 at 02:06 AM This Sunday our SNO (Sunday Night Operations) sees us fly in part of the country that doesn't quite see as much action as other places, the Ohakea Sector. Ohakea Sector consists of the airspace above the Tongariro, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, and Wairarapa regions of the lower North Island. The sector's major airport is Palmerston North (NZPM), which sees regular flights to several centres in New Zealand. Other significant airports include regional centres Napier (NZNR) and Wanganui (NZWU), and the Air Force base at Ohakea (NZOH). Event Time: Sunday 23rd Nov 2008 19:00-22:00 NZDT (06:00-09:00UTC) Flight Time: 1 hr or less (Depending on Aircraft type and route flown) Airspace References: VATNZ Airspace Reference - Ohakea Sector VATNZ Airspace Reference - Palmerston North VATNZ Airspace Reference - Napier VATNZ Airspace Reference - Ohakea VATNZ Airspace Reference - Wanganui In addition, there are many other airports in the sector for VFR flight or local light aircraft movements.
