i added scenery to fs9, following the directions in the readme file but then in the readme file it said IMPORTANT!!

If you have never added an 'ADDON SCENERY' to your FS9 before, you need to activate your

ADDON SCENERY through your scenery library. i went to settings but i cant figure it out and the new scenery does not show up. so how do i go about activating it... thanks

This is only true if you put your scenery in:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery (for bgl files)

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\texture (for bmp files if available)

After "Enable" the "Add on scenery" in FS, then all scenerey you put there will be enabled when you start FS.

But Scenery may also be put in a new folder. See example an addon scenery named "KMSP".

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\KMSP\Scenery (for bgl files)

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\KMSP\Texture (for bmp files if available)

Then you must Enable the scenery KMSP in FS (However this way you easy can disable/enable individual scenery). I think you will find out how its works if you find the Scenery-menu as below:

To activate (or better they say Enable in FS2004 at least)

Then you have "Settings". But the setting for "Scenery" is only available at the very startup of FS, before you select/create a flight.

Peter,

I'm not sure if Lennart's explanation made sense to you or not but I will try a simpler explanation.

First find out where your new scenery is located. If it self-installed it could be in ..\FS9\Addon Scenery\new scenery where 'new scenery' is the name of your new scenery folder as shown in Lennart's example.

Then start FS9 and on the opening window select 'Settings' and then 'Scenery Library'. Click the 'Add Area' button, this opens a normal Windows browse window, locate your new scenery and double click on its folder, this adds it to your scenery library.

In red writing you get a warning that you have made changes to your scenery configuration and you need to restart FS to see the changes. Click OK to save the changes then close and restart FS.

If you still have problems let us know what scenery you are trying to install, or beter still the name of the scenery file you got and from where, so one of us can install it ans see where the files go to.
