Daniel Brum Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:25 AM Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:25 AM Hi. I have tried following the various instructions on here for using FSX and Vatsim (FSInn and FSCopilot). I even went through the video tutorial. I am feeling a little lost to say the least. Here's what i've done: OS: Vista FSX installed FSCopilot installed FSInn installed I think it's working, earlier today I connected, and then came here and saw my callsign as online. The thing is, I don't see any other people, or ATC, etc. Who/what/where should I be connecting to? In the servers list, sometimes it shows servers, then a few minutes ago I tried to connect again and there were no servers listed. Did I do something wrong? I am not sure I have everything setup correctly, as I don't see other people, ATC or pilots on. I wanted to go online first and just listen in and see how the interaction is, but I haven't even managed that yet. Any help is appreciated. I've spent the entire day trying to get all this working, to at least be able to observe. thanks, and sorry for asking stupid beginner questions. Daniel Brum Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:30 AM Author Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:30 AM I've read that post already thanks and followed the steps, it's how I got it "working". Are there only specific coverage zones for ATC? Maybe I'm just in the sim using an airport where no one is in. I guess I need to understand this part better now. thanks
Brian Fuller 973577 Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:49 AM Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:49 AM Yes, you can use an application like ServInfo to see where ATC is at.
Brian Fuller 973577 Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:54 AM Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:54 AM Or use the Resource Page to see where ATC is http://www.vatsim.info/benaway/vatservers.htm
Daniel Brum Posted January 7, 2009 at 02:14 AM Author Posted January 7, 2009 at 02:14 AM I just managed to get a training flight with an ATC using FSinn, worked great. My only issue now seems to be the disappearing servers list. I exited FSX, had dinner, came back, and when I hit Load Servers, nothing is returned. It's done this before, and then sometime later seems to come back. Am I doing something wrong? thanks for all your help so far.

Use the item in the FSInn/VATSIM FAQ that shows and alternate method for getting the list of servers. By the way, you don't have to use the load servers button on every connection. Just pick your favorite server and use it as long as it works. -- L. James -- L. D. Daniel Brum Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:48 PM Author Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:48 PM Hi. Thanks, I also figured out how to lookup the server IP addresses and can just type that in instead. Is there a way to see what zone an ATC i covering? I mostly fly (for now) around my local airport where I did my real flight training. I'd like to know if there is coverage in my zone, and on what channel, etc. Whoever the ATC was last night covering the YYZ region - thanks for a fantastic experience. This changed the simulation for me completely, as I knew it would. cheers
Brian Fuller 973577 Posted January 7, 2009 at 02:50 PM Posted January 7, 2009 at 02:50 PM If you mean while you are flying, you can hit the small box that says ATC on the FSInn control panel, for a list of controllers that are on in your immediate area. If you mean before you fly, I mentioned two resources above.
