First you need to have VATSIM pilot ID. -> http://cert.vatsim.net/vatsimnet/signup.html Then you should read some guides from pilot training -> http://www.vatsim.net/prc/ Visit also -> http://www.dutchvacc.nl/ I have FS 2004 , but i dont know how it works. I suggest that first you learn to fly and land your airplane safely before connecting to VATSIM with real ATC. Welcome onboard...
