I connect to Squawkbox without a problem and I see the controllers in the area where I start, but my problem is that the "logging into multiplayer session vis the lobby" screen appears and then never disappears. The game freezes. A couple of minutes later I get disconnected from squawkbox and then FS closes itself. Any help would be appreciated.

This may be a firewall issue. Firewall can stop Multiplayer connection.

XP SP1 firewall has been reported failing.

Don't know your firewall, but suggest try any other.

Antivirus can also cause problem disable/uninstall during test with squawkbox 3,

My machine is only a month old, so it has XP SP2. I do have McAfee antivirus, but I disabled it when I downloaded, installed sqawkbox3. I also disable it as well as the McAfee firewall before I even start FS9 or SB3. I have read that I should uninstall this, but it came with my machine and I do not have a McAfee disk so I am leary to get rid of it. I really do not think it is a hardware issue as I can get almost 75fps when I am airborne and about 30-40fps when I am on the ground at KLAX simflyers with ultimate traffic. I will disable the internal firewall and if that doesn't work, I guess I will uninstall McAfee antivirus. Thanks for the suggestion.

McAfee does not turn off by disabled it, you need to uninstall it. (Search forum "McAfee".)

XP SP2 firewall should work fine with Multiplayer connection.

Well I have McAfee and I had the same problem, *until* I told it to accept SB3 inbound and outbound, *and* I manually opened the appropriate ports.

Now, I have no problems at all using McAfee, with both SB3 and ASRC.

For SB3, my router was fine, but was a mess for ASRC, so I had to switch to Linksys.

I have the same problem.

I don’t think it is related to the SB or FSINN because it occurs with both.

When I attempt to connect to network the message in FS comes up saying that FS I connecting to Multiplayer via Lobby or something to that effect. The after a few minutes it fails with error. However, the SB still connects to the server and I can see myself on ServInfo and WhazzUp, controllers are able to see on their screens but I do not see any multiplayer planes and, the funniest thing, my AI planes are all still there.

I checked all the usual suspects such as deleted my fs9.cfg file, deactivated the Firewall and antivirus, reinstalled SB and FsInn.. but the problem is still there. I am using Computer [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociates Av and firewall.

I really want to try to avoid reinstalling FS for as of right now its is about 30GB in airplanes and scenery. I will appreciate all help.

Thanks.

Eugene,

did you go under File->Multiplayer->Connect, and then try and manually connect to the SB/FSInn session? I've had to do this from time to time to get it working. If you can't see it with the IP field blank, put in 127.0.0.1 and try again.

Yeah i have, but for some reason it wouldnt find the session... It seems that something is preventing the FS to see the MP session and therefore it can't connect to it....

Usually this problem come due to firewall/antivirus. Cause FS make a TCP/IP connection internee computer at IP address 127.0.0.1

Some antivirus is not possible to turn off. They are protected to "external turn off". Then the antivirus must be uninstalled.

You may try uninstall Antirirus and/or try an other firewall. E.g. XP SP2 built in firewall should work fine with Multiplayer internee connection.

Some general info:

If you have a router or multimodem with built in firewall. Then turn off all firewall in PC, open and forward UDP port 3290 in the router (only needed to hear voice not broken, not needed to connect).

Firewall:

Make sure you have a firewall at your computer You must have firewall active in your computer (if not have a router) or you will get virus when PC is connected to internet.

Antivirus:

Antivirus can 'cause and have 'cause problem.

You may run SB3 on internet without antivirus, I just cant see any risk at all in this. While the risk start when using common types of program such as common Web browsers, E-mail clients, msn, which virus are created for. However the risk is still not big if keep into a few known web-sites.
