Ramon Tavares 1100031 Posted March 3, 2009 at 11:12 PM Posted March 3, 2009 at 11:12 PM Hi all, I just go the application installed today and would like to spend some time monitoring ATC before my first virtual flight. What is the best way to find out which airports are busy and staffed at any given point? When I check "Who's Online", I can't see which locations the controllers are currently staffing. Is there a better way? Thanks in advance- looking forward to chatting. p.s. I'm in Canada, but posting in the U.S. section as it seems there is more activity in this sub-forum. Danny Burtch 816098 Posted March 3, 2009 at 11:20 PM Posted March 3, 2009 at 11:20 PM Even though I'm from Canada I'm hoping I can still respond to this topic. Two programs can help you in seeing who is online: VATSpy or Servinfo. Depending on where you want to do the bulk of your flying (US or Canada) I'd recommend monitoring ATC in that country. There are a lot of similarities in both countries but also a few differences (one being the phraseology of clearances, among others). Don't worry about having to post in the more "active forum" because all of them get read. Danny Burtch CZYZ Senior Student

Ramon Tavares 1100031 Posted March 4, 2009 at 02:02 AM Author Posted March 4, 2009 at 02:02 AM Another quick question- I can hear radio operators in my headphones, but my mic isn't set up properly. Do i configure the push-to-talk from within the VATSIM app, or somewhere else in Flight Simulator? Thanks again.
Kenneth Haught Posted March 4, 2009 at 05:53 AM Posted March 4, 2009 at 05:53 AM [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming that your system recognized the mike, you would need to set your Calibration and PTT keys in the pilot software. For FSInn you do this through the FSFDT Control Panel, found in the taskbar after launching FS/FSInn. Not sure about SB...as I don't use that program. Detailed for FSInn to set the PTT keys after opening the FSFDT controls is Voice/Vatsim/Key Mappings, and then click 'Set' and select your keys to use. I've tried the Qutescoop program, but it doesn't seem as user friendly.
